Love the series, so I purchased the remastered collection to see where it all began.

It was a journey full of future FF (as well as D&D) references that I chuckled at and love. It has taken me a while to 100% the game on my first run, but I think it was well worth it to catch the full plot of this pioneering game! Worth it for series fans, retro RPG enthusiasts, and a simple but enjoyable plot

Beautiful story and aesthetics, I would call this game a precision platformer with attributes of a metroidvania. The artistic style, story telling, and moments of life-threatening (in-game) suspense were definitely memorable for a first time play-through. This one was a hidden treasure for me and I am glad it wasn't spoiled for me in the years it has been out

I think others may have been too hard on this game, and that it is a worthy sequel to the Teslagrad (which I do believe to be superior to this game, so go play that one first)

Pros:
Puzzle platforming
Artwork
Metroidvania- style mobility upgrades were enjoyable to implement and allowed for fun physics of movement through the map.
Most bosses were enjoyable and I found to be similar conceptually to the game's predecessor (except one example).
Overall I would play this game again

Cons (contains spoilers):
Collectible assisting tool waits for you to complete 4 hidden races to the secret map room, which will spawn the "secret map" that marks all the collectible card locations on your map (game gives not hints to such an item)
Large Spoiler Warning 100% hidden boss of fighting Elenor requires you to maneuver on 3 orbiting spheres (magnetized red).
The physics in this fight is a nightmare:
1 - controls on a controller appear to swap between left/right (counterclockwise/ clockwise) navigation and directional positioning (similar to a clock's face).
2 - the orbs themselves appear to have inertia that will slowly drag your character behind their movement path (making trajectory plans difficult)
3 - I found the character's push/pull via powers unpredictable as to which of the 3 orbs I would interact, as to make planning ahead difficult. I overall abandoned the idea and relied solely on directional teleport and double jump (secret unlockables) to win the fight
I don't plan to ever repeat that fight again

Endgame salt aside, I think this game would be quite enjoyable for casual play!

Great Metroidvania with lovable character interactions & countless hours of content.

Love the art style, soundtrack (which I listen to at work), and the utility progression.

Dang I'm addicted and don't want to wake up!

Just starting, but the game is fun RNG. I could not find an introduction to each character's mechanics, but that didn't spoil the game for me. Just some simple trial and error and it became intuitive. Definitely worth picking this gem up for casual runs. An entire game under an hour for me but I find it entertaining.

Story is kookie, but I don't mind it being a little childish in dialogue

Game feels like a top-down version of Terraria. I have enjoyed learning the crafting, farming, cooking, and fishing without spoilers, and have only found the first boss. It has been fun and I can certainly imagine the fun with a group

After recently finding this series in my library, I decided to give it a go. Progression is linear, and completionists will find themselves back-tracking to find obscure items. However, I find it overall enjoyable and the boss fights (though patterned) enjoyable at a non-competitive level

Very fun game for casuals. I played for nearly a month before winning my first crown, but I have enjoyed the process with family. Good buy when on sale; I only wish they offered a bundle for multiple keys as it is a lot more fun with friends.

Would still play alone. Would laugh at rag-dolling
