It's perfect.

DOOM 3 is truly a masterpiece, the graphics, the atmosphere, the shooting, it's grimy, it's gritty, it's evil and not cartoony at all, the way DOOM should be. Now I'm playing it with the 'Doom 3 Redux mod', which doesn't touch gameplay at all, it simply adds cooler sounds and better textures, nothing wrong upgrading a 2004 game visually, so I definitely recommend adding this mod if you never played the game before, still even without the mod, it's perfect, but I think this mod really modernizes it, better gun sounds (blasting imps and zombies with a shotgun has never been so fun), better graphics, better textures, gameplay unaffected = perfect.

Anyways, what to say about the game. It's truly a real DOOM game, it starts slow like the Knee Deep in Dead episode from DOOM 1993 and slowly picks up the pace. You'll face the same monster traps, hallways, UAC base, Mars, Hell, the same demons, keycard hunting, lockers, maze levels, action you experienced in the original DOOM.

To me it's a real DOOM game, and never understood the haters who say it isn't. It has horror elements yes, but this game is NOT a survival horror game. You don't "survive" scrounging for supplies and setting up camp fires, hiding, surviving, you take that shotgun and blast those demon f.ucks straight to hell! DOOM guy is badass in this game as well, don't let people who don't understand DOOM tell you otherwise. I've always enjoyed it and just recently bought it on steam again because DOOM 3 I bought back in 2004 is still in my hometown.

I enjoy all DOOMs, and DOOM 2016 is a great game as well and a real DOOM game as well don't get me wrong, but don't exclude this masterpiece from the series saying it sucks. I say try it! If you don't like it, you can always refund it.

Also, this game has some crazy mods as well, people were very creative with it so when you finish the game you can play numerous cool mods, there's even a mod where someone remade Quake 1 in this, it owns!

DOOM, DOOM II, Final DOOM and custom WADs that are still being made today, all you need to have TONS of fun! I swear I'll never stop playing this, great big community, tons of content, tons of fun! DOOM will never get old!

A spring day, 1997. I was only 6 years old. My mom took me to her work, there was a pc in her office, while she was busy sorting out paperwork she let me play on her work computer. After spending some time in ms-paint I've seen an ms-dos icon named "DOOM II", double clicked it and it all started from there. Thank you JESUS for this game, thank you SATAN for that day, discovering DOOM.

20 years later, here I am, still playing it, got the CLASSIC PACK with all the DOOMs in it, all I'm gonna say, DOOM is the best thing that happened in my life, will play this 'till I die!

Plays like a slightly modified version of UT3 which is great, it's fluid, it's responsive, it's fun! It looks really good as well and you can tell it's crafted with love... The only problem is, nobody plays it! :( Which sucks, because it's a really nice game. And yes, it definitely feels better than the new UT4.


It sucks nobody plays this, I don't know what the peak hours are, but there are like 8 people in game as I'm writing this... Guess it's back to UT4, and waiting for Quake Champions as I am sad to say, this has even less players than the new UT4 alpha. Hope it comes to life by some strange miracle!

Pretty cute lil game. Lots of players, it's fun, it's addicting, matches are fast etc... I'm sure the game will have a lot of more features in the future as well, though I really enjoy it as it is.

Hate the fact that they removed all the satanic imagery, blood, gibs etc. That was a big part of Quake, it was that kind of game with that kind of theme, dark, gothic, bloody, hellish, bleak. Quake live seems like a clean Quake III arena version... But it's still damn good and it's still QUAKE and it reminded me of my teen days when I was 13-14, playing this game for hours. Love it! Recommended.
