As a total war fan I started playing AOW4 with the free to play weekend, already at 13 hours and loving it (within 2 days). Bought the Premium edition! Spent half that time just messing around designing factions from various Skaven to Tau to heroic gophers to Good orks. Such fun. Devs really did a good job on this one.

Update: I am at 24 hours and still loving it, my brain is going to be fried by the end of this weekend. Still can't believe how much customisation and variable synergies there are with the tomes and species and everything.

Fun game, with a lot of diversity in units and abilities. The grand campaign is awesome.

Still loving this game, 200+ hours in, love the fact the devs are so involved and updating multiplayer consistently with numerous updates on the way, including more battle groups.

Absolutely amazing expansion. I've played a lot of hours across a wide range of strategy games, and pretty sure no other title has ever received so much content for so cheap. I love the variability in new civs, from very complex and deep, to easier to approach from a beginner perspective (but still hard to master).

I was initially pessimistic of the outlook on the game, but with such a massive update I think there's a good future ahead.

Considering the low price , there's a lot of content available.(especially if you hustle the system by buying it in a bundle with aoe2de, even if you own the game already it gives you a big discount on the DLC) Unfortunately a lot of people didn't read the produce before buying so are disappointed, but all the necessary info was provided.

Ranked play with Romans will come with time, but again, people don't read the product or are impatient.

Edit: AOE4 has come such a long way since release. With the addition of the 2 new civs and 4 variants, there's a ton of permutations in match ups. Balancing, mechanics and unit viability are all really good for an RTS.

Great game, tons of replayability per civ with the various landmarks changing the playstyle so much.

Campaigns are really good, a lot of variety in the missions.

Balancing and bug fixes required, but still in a good condition.

edit: just played through the first few missions of the campaign which adds a nice level of diversity with unique challenges.

amazingly diverse / replayable game for such a simple concept.

the "undo function" allows you to experiment with turns and take chances you normally couldnt without having to save/load the whole time. or you can choose not to use the function and have an "ironman" mode experience

every play through is basically unique with randomly generated perks to choose from, on randomly generated maps (which have a seed so you can replay specific maps by loading the seed) combined with a wide variety of impactful tech and artifacts to be discovered.

i love the DLC, yes the civs are OP, but they will be toned down in time. the campaigns are nice as well. but i really like the unique mechanics of the 2 new civs. especially the sicilians. that Donjon is amazing.
