FINAL EDIT: the Xenobiology update has released, STICKY TERRAIN IS FIXED :D, we finally got some good wholesome content, the earlygame and midgame is alot more fun with more to do and see, all round a fantastic update! im leaving the review negative for the cash shop and exo chip nonsense. along with a handful of bugs. honestly tho a real step in the right direction and more then i ever expected outta nowhere.

This game used to be amazing before they stopped development to sell cosmetics and run recurring events designed to sell you more cosmetics. as soon as they released the V-TOL and Hoverboard, and tried to claim it as new content, without adding any purpose they can do better then anything else. the game died for me

Edit2: i feel like i need to say, after reading and replying to comments, that if you play the game from a new player perspective, its still an incredibly happy and fun time for the first 25h or so (roughly depending on playstyle, mileage will vary) the issues really only come to light if you look really closely or have a very big savegame/spend alot of time on one world. as far as repeatability goes, nothing changes for each run besides knowing where you need to go to get things without looking at the ingame astropedia, so its really just how you decide to play the game. i personally enjoy having all my eggs in one basket for progression based titles, and super sizing whats possible by the end. the automation update was freaking amazing for me personally, really wish they had done more with that. i personally dont enjoy restarting a survival game for any other reason then updates. for example, @steeeeeve got 100+ hours from different saves restarting more often then i would, so there is still alot to love and enjoy here. not saying the game itself is bad, just the current direction is something i dont like or agree with.

-driving is faster then flying.
-hoverboarding is going to kill you with fall damage
-V-TOL has next to no cargo capacity, negating any of its potential value to players as a vehicle.
-walking on the surface of any planet besides the spawn can cause to you never be able to walk like you are on flat ground, constantly stopping for a half second once every 1/3 steps, (has been a bug report in the game for OVER 2 YEARS WITHOUT A FIX)
-sliding on other planets will probably cause you to die randomly if you hit an imaginary ledge while going downhill
-placing tethers (for breathable oxygen) causes extreme lag in the mid-game stages of any base with more intent then just storing a few things. (if you like to build big, better have a powerful CPU and not like it very much)
-interacting with vehicles is very buggy and weird, with the most probable ending to you attempting to leave a seat, being death from fall damage as you either clip through the map into the terrain, or be jettisoned by the seat high enough to kill you if you dont have a jetpack on at all times.
-"Automatic" miners dont work anymore if you leave render range, making them essentially useless after you exhaust the basic patches around your base, and a willingness to AFK for several hours to fill a large container.
-FOR 3 YEARS batteries/solar/wind turbines have had messed up visuals and stopped correctly displaying power levels if you take them to other planets, and cause large amounts of lag while in that broken state, with only a reload making them return to normal, making a full game restart after every planet hop, is the only safe way to have a large save without corruption.

-Dev's don't care about the people who play their game, they only fix the bugs that extremely new players would run into, so you can more easily get past the refund window before the JANK rears its huge head.
-Cash cow company, and that's an observation of fact rather then an accusation as the anniversary for NO NEW CONTENT AT ALL fast approaches.

Edit:vengeur50: you should've mentioned the in game shop a bit more, like how they added an in-game currency for the purchases instead of a direct purchase. There's no reason for this currency to exist besides inciting players to spend more money (because of the leftover qbits) and how it's the first tab on the menu.
(great point thank you, however i dont begrudge the existence of the store, devs gotta eat too. my problem with the store is that not enough is being done to justify the expense, as the only new stuff to be released in a very long time is just $$$$$stuff. ive personally spent around 50$ for skins/suits/addons and loved em to bits. but wouldnt give them a single cent now that nothing is coming out. )
