I wish video games weren't an excuse for people to harrass others in public and call it "meta." Like they expect you to live every triumph and defeat possible in a video game in your own real life. That's lame. I suppose it's punishment for buying entertainment that people like Optimus Prime (in disguise) find offensive. Or challenging. Or revealing. Telling. And especially truthful.

I don't know about this video game though. It might be full of half truths itself. maybe even outright lies. I'll have to be careful who I listen to. But that's just one of the hazards of living in a media saturated world. Everyone has a bullhorn to scream with.

Then again, it's the quiet ones who get through. Old, with their best "humble dignity" on. You know. Optimus Prime in disguise.

(I'm not hoping any real Optimus's suffer a cyber lobotomy. I'm just wishing men like that in my life would stop making death threats at me and my family and lose the ability to act on violent impulses. That is the frontal lobe, isn't it? :) )

...

That's the problem with the flip side of "meta" culture in social media. The people you're running away from want you to fight back so they can hurt you. It's meta-meta. Or maybe meta-meta-meta. Trying to hurl boulders at you by bouncing them off the Fourth Wall. Someone needs to acknowledge this happens. It's a form of cyberbullying, because it does involve real life. You're real, they're real, and so are the guys in the area, state, and country that capitalize on their "meta-culture attacks" through social media. "Meta meta-culture attacks?"

If no one does, people will be diagnosed as mentally ill for being victims of this. As they watch, read, and listen to literature and media that reflects the issues they and the rest of society face as portrayed through fiction. They can easily become victims of "meta culture-based attacks," or efforts to intimidate and bully others through the use of fictional entertainment in media and the real-life analogies the audience and writers draw and draw-on. When they do, they have difficulty explaining the who, what, when, where, and why of how and why they are suffering from this type of bullying, especially when it happens on social media.

This type of large scale, dragnet cyber-bullying is designed to target sections of the populous and force them out of the social sphere in every corner of the internet. It's the flame wars of the internet forums brought to the muliplayer and massively multiplayer games on computer within gamepla. But especially the game forums, including singleplayer game forums. (Steam calls them Discussions.)

It's what Optimus Prime would do on the internet if he was over 50, a mild bigot, and didn't want to be caught making death threats in a public space or forum where he could be held accountable by public testimony, record, or recording. But only while his disguise held out.

If you have no clue what all that just was, smile, breath easy, and enjoy life. You have yet to run into the running tournament to control the "internets."

Also, I've already reported the death threats to the police. In real life. Where they were made. Is this steam? I certainly hope so. It's taken me about 20 years to get this far. It's progress. :)

[Is "steam" the generation of social, political, military, and religous action from human suffering as inflicted in a "controlled manner" by political, military, religous, and commercial instituitons? By the "powers that be?" Is that the goal of the "games" of bullying and threats which make the rounds in election season? ]

(No Cybertronians were harmed in the making of this post. Nor do I endorse lobotomy, cyber or otherwise. I'm not even in favor of electroshock. Or institutionalization. Also, can steam trigger a disappearing case of latent post-traumatic stress?)

I'm picturing the disembodied head of Optimus Prime plugged into a TV and controller, spouting 8-bit music through his mouth as I play some fiendishly hard game from the 1980's designed to waste lives. I suppose if you could strip the personality circuits out of his cerebral cortex and reduce it to processing basic math and language, he might make a decent game system. Otherwise, it's like dodging bullets every day of your life. Wait, are we talking about the same thing? Maybe your Optimus and my Optimus are different. I'm all confused. Hey, how's MP? I can't even find it.

Please don't take this too seriously. I have a choice between being peeved and ridiculous. I chose both. :D (Hint: No CAPS.)
