The game is good, but it's not really finished. Hopefully in the next year they fix the very long list of bugs. I think the reviews are based primarily on the first act of the game, which has far fewer issues than the last 2 acts. The farther you get into the game, the more plot holes and inconsistencies there are. NPC's referring to events or choices that never happened (in that play through). The quest log actually spoiling story by giving me info I should not have yet. Quests not tracking or completing. Cut scenes not playing or playing with the wrong background scenes.

It seems like the game has a hard time keeping track of what choices you have made and what path you have taken as you get farther into the story. Sometimes the pacing of events and relationships is way off depending on if you have rested at camp or not or if the events even triggered when you did rest. The game is very ambitious and they clearly were not finished fixing all these issues and released it anyway. Hopefully they actually finish it because it has the potential to be a great game

Very short, limited replay value. Mission structure is very old school. In fact the game overall feels like a remaster of an old game in terms of game design. Combat is not that satisfying, lots of dodge spam with auto aim abilities. The main appeal is customizing and building different mechs. If you like to make 1 build and stick with it this might not be for you.

In my opinion not worth full price.

Innovative, unique, interesting and overall amazing game. I just saw the 1st trailer for DD2 and now I'm thinking of trying for 100% steam achievements.

X-com style combat with interesting characters, environments and story (so far). Good voice acting and dialogue. All cut scenes, menus, combat and hud are properly displaying in 21:9 ultrawide. No obvious bugs at all yet. Seems like a really solid game. Looking forward to playing a lot more.

I didn't fully understand how good this game is until I played the sequel.

I've been trying really hard to give this game a chance, almost 20 hrs already. I'm sorry to say that many of the negative reviews here a correct, they tried something different and it just doesn't work very well.

The UI looks awful, like a cheap mobile phone or console game.
The progression does not feel good at all
I don't feel any connection to the characters, environments, or story, at all. It all feels very generic.

If i was a better writer I would continue on and explain more about how i feel, but I'll just summarize by saying that playing Darkest Dungeon 2 makes me want to play Darkest Dungeon 1 instead.

I'l probably slog through and finish the game...maybe. It feels like a 40 hr play and drop forever kinda game.

Can be fun, but as a new player it is very difficult to get into the game for a few reasons:

1. The game refuses to explain how anything works, so you are forced to use 3rd party websites
2. The veteran players play the game in speed run mode (think warframe or path of exile), blasting through content so fast that you can't keep up

Overall I enjoyed playing Guild Wars 2 but I played it like an open world RPG that also had other people running around.

Sometimes it seems all roads lead to Hogsmead.

I personally would rather replay Subnautica than play this game. Before buying I read a lot of the reviews that expressed concerns about missing key elements that made the first game so amazing. They were right.
