What I like:
- Very good story, with lots of lore goodies and easter eggs that both new and old fans can enjoy.
- Good atmosphere.
- Graphical fidelity at times is on par with modern AAA games.
- Good gunplay.
- Mod support.
- Frequent patches (so far).

What I don't like:
- Missing the most important feature of the game which is the A-life 2.0 system, primarily responsible for the AI spawns and behaviour. The current spawn system is terrible and wouldn't pass as acceptable in a Beta test. The enemy AI is also nothing special. There are moments
- Missing "codex" which previous games have always had. Currently you need to google everything, and you WILL be googling things, because the story is wild and the list of minor and major characters is way too long to remember, even for someone who has played the previous games. The problem right now is that if you google certain things, you risk the story getting spoilt.
- Average stealth system at best. I like the good sound detection system that they have, but when enemies can spot you and shoot to kill in pitch black, whilst you can't even see the faintest outline of what's directly infront of you, it kind of spoils any benefits that the sound system brings.
- Poor performance, regardless of how good your computer is and what settings you choose.
- Quite a few bugs, including many reports of game breaking bugs, though I've not had anything that severe.

TL;DR
If you're a fan, you've already bought it and sunk tens of hours into it. For everyone else, wait for a sale. It's currently undercooked. By then, a few major patches will have been done, and if we're all lucky, the A-life 2.0 system will be implemented.
