See, most people who still play have at least one tier 5 ship, or tons of experience. They've sunk they're time into the game, and the payoff if getting to, ahem, wipe the floor with newer players. That's me. So what I needed was someone with tons of experiance. So I checked the Steam groups for someone who played Stellar Impact alot. Alot. I ran across you, and I figured even if you didn't want to play Stellar Impact anymore, you'd probably be willing to play somekind of MP sci-fi game, and I'd be happy.

So that's why you got an invite out of the blue.

Hey, someone just friended me out of the blue. That's a little disconcerting, and I thought, "Hey, that's kinda what I did to Brena Luna!" So I figured I ought to explain myself.

I was playing Steller Impact, and every few weeks the userbase went down by half. So I started looking for people to play with. I looked for Steam groups that looked promising, then realized that if they were still playing the game, they'd be, well, in-game.

I figured I could try to convince my existing friends to buy the game, but at best only one or two actually would, and you need like at least 6 people for a decent match. Plus they'd be noobs, with low ranking ships, and would probably bail on the game if they didn't love the concept. So then I figured what I needed was someone who wasn't a noob, and who still played.
