It's a typical grind like all clickers, such as Cookie CLicker and the lot. However it's missing the extreme hurmour of that game. I will say that the character design and artwork are the best things about this game and you really come to love the characters. But the gameplay is such a turnoff, especially for newer players. Any story that's here is lost to the fact that you have to complete it multiple times in variants. And some of these variants are incredibly frustrating especially those that newer players won't even be able to complete. The worst part is the community of this game. SUre there are some nice people. BUt this is a community of D&D players most of whose only purpose is to min/max the heck out of everything and then brag about how awesome they are and how much gear they have (especially all the things they've bought...oh yes there is heavy buy incentive) Sometimes you CAN get help from people but usually you get advice that isn't helpful at all and/or doesn't explain what is going on in the game. So yeah this is another game that mostly caters to the highest level players. Good luck feeling good about any accomplishments you do as people will the community will just put you down and say how easy everything is. Meanwhile the devs continue to nerf things and say how they invented this genre. (One actually said that). And let's analyze the efficiency of the game. It is a SERIOUS resource hog. If efver you get into a tough level, it becomes harder and harder to play. Not from the gameplay standfpoint but from the fact that the game gets slower and slower until the point where it won't even let you click where you want because it is taking up all of your computers resources more and more. And if thigs are going well and you've cleared all the monsters well that doesn't seem to matter either. The longer you play the slower it gets as well. So you will have to shut it down every so often for no reason. Oh yeah and the gameplay makes little sense to the casual observer. I think the devs just enjoy tanking numbers of champions just so that you won't succeed.
