Early Access Review
Very fun game imo. It's akin to minecraft survival, but so much more. It allows for more customized building, leveling and stat allocation/skills, and vehicles. You can break down all of the buildings and terrain. There is a food/drink system. You have to deal with all the zombies everywhere, they occupy every building and are spread out across the landscape. The twist is that a zombie horde will actively come after you and you have to defend against it every 7 days (by default). The game allows for pretty specific customization in terms of it's passive mechanics (day length, days between zombie hordes, how far your teammates can be from you and still receive shared xp, how quickly you gain xp, how tough the zombies are, how fast they are, etc.). It also has a handful of static maps, but you can procedurally gen them as well either randomly or using a seed. If you enjoy survival type games and zombies, I haven't found a better one than this. To me it is a good mix of chill while you grind for resources and build your base up, and chaos during the night and during horde nights. There is always the requirement to get more food and ammo, stockpiling enough of the latter between each horde night to get you through the onslaught until your next 6 days of relative relief. I think this makes your game instances stay more engaging because you are always fighting against a countdown to the next big fight. It is pretty fun to play around with how you build your base as you have to learn all the nuances of the AI and how zombies will path in certain scenarios. Do you have a super strong door at your choke point but weak walls? Well, the zombies are just going to cut through your wall and ignore the door entirely. Think you can build a tower and just sit above them all night? They will tear down the base and the building will collapse because this game has load bearing physics unlike minecraft - no floating blocks here. Everything has to be thought out to ensure your success.
