It's like RPG Maker but way better. Hear me out. It is made to look like RPG Maker, even the available tools and assets are very much alike, but it has native 3D stuff. That alone is a huge improvement. It also improves on a lot of things I find lacking in RPG Maker, and it's very easy to customize. It's even possible to change the tile and sprites square size, or to handle everything as textures and not use tilesets at all. It has some of the same limitations of RPG Maker, sure, but it runs on Three JS, so any decent programmer should be able to write plugins to make up for it. Currently, it is possible to write custom shaders, load and animate GLTF models, handle gamepads, set up event listeners... Basically anything you can do with JS, you can do in this engine. And since it already runs on 3D WebGL, unlike RPG Maker, no big changes are necessary, plugins are easy to handle. Also, we're talking about an independent team and a very accessible one-time price for a full commercial engine (it's a DLC, you buy it on steam and you can sell games made with it). You can also use it for free if you're not planning on selling your games.
