I've played the original RoR for several hours and had a blast. The transition to 3D is seemless and works very well. The controls are good and the characters feel very agile and easy to maneuver. Shooting feels satisfying. Difficulty curve is the same as the original and is practically identical, although you can't "cheese" enemies as much (in RoR1 you could trap enemies in ledges and attack them slowly but surely to kill them).

Overall I think I will play this game a lot, I haven't tried multiplayer yet but I imagine it will be a blast. Will follow this closely.

Very much recommended.

This is my revised review.

As of now, Islands of Nyne is in what I would say a great state for an Early Access game. Nevertheless, it does have it's problems in both optimization and gameplay issues.

First of all, frame rate is low, I am pulling 60 fps, and low 50-40 in some situations, sometimes spiking to 90 when there are not a lot of objects to render. That's the biggest issue as of now:

Bugs I have encountered:

- Cooking a grenade and changing to another weapon does not make the grenade uncook completely, rather it will detonate once you change to the grenade again (which gave me a hell of a fright)

- Some attachments dissapear in training mode spontaneously.
- Weapons to not respawn in training mode (don't know if this is intended)

Stuff I would change:

- Make it so targets have health in training mode and don't die in a single shot, let us have training with different types of armor, etc.
- More people in the lobby, 50 people doesn't make the cut. (usually minutes 3-8 are absolutely silent, since there are at that point 22-18 people remaining.
- Don't unveil the first safe zone before you fall, let us disperse across the map and then unveil the safe zone, this should lead to more people staying alive and creating further engagements. (and this would be great with more people in the lobby)
- The bunnyhop mechanic is interesting, but I would change it so jumps make you at least 10% slower, in order to see less people jumping around like rabbits.

Pros:

- Great gunplay, interesting attachment mechanics.
- Great pace of game, frenetic, but sometimes too frenetic, and this can be frustrating due to low fps at start of the game (this last is considered a con but referring to a core problem of optimization)
- You can heal while you walk, which let's you reposition effectively.
- Fast lobbys
- Gungame at the start of a game, which let's you warm up before starting the round.
- Training mode.
- Lots of menu options (I would make more, such as red dot color, shape, etc)

Cons:

- Stutters from time to time.
- Low FPS in some zones and situations.
- Lack of grenades, only one type.
- 2 types of ARs, SMGs, pistols, snipers, but only one type of DMR? And it uses AR rounds. Nah DMRs are their own kind, please do something with this.

Overall, I recommend IoN as of now, it is fun to play, sometimes frustrating, but that's maybe because I'm not used to the emchancis right now and I am envenomed by the sluggyness of PUBG coming to this game. I need to get used to it.

IoN needs more marketing in order to make the cut in todays market, and they need to address the FPS issue.

Devs are active and respond very quickly,

This is how Early Access should be.

See you in the dome players. Good Luck.

Okay here goes, a review as of 18/04/2017.

I DO recommend H1Z1.

The game has become famous for being a glitch and bug fest, infested with hackers (seemingly, I have found less than in BF4 and thats a AAA game, maybe one or two in about 80 solo matches which rounds up to 10000 players which is 0.2% which is normal.) and a poorly optimized game.

Here's the thing.

The last update fixed a lot of bugs, gave it an AMAZING boost in optimization (went from 40 fps to litteraly 95 on a GTX 660), introduced new colored hitmarkers which I find extremely useful, etc.

This game is AS OF RIGHT NOW absolutely playable 99% of the time, considering the ocassional bug and oddshot.

The game needs some work with hitreg and other issues but I have found that right now hitreg is quite accurate (EU servers)

Buy the game if your PC can't handle PUBG and you like arcadey style of gameplay.

Playing in groups is extremely fun and proximity chat trolling is probably a 200% boost to fun. (the possibilities are endless.)

As of right now, I recommend the game. Daybreak have reacted to the success of PUBG and are pushing updates quite fast.

Competition is good for the consumer.

Hope this helped.

I've been playing Risk of Rain nonstop for 4 hours since I bought it and I can assure you there are a lot more to come.
This game is hard as it is fun, but hard in the sense of compelling, it's hard if you're not used to it.
I only have 2 characters and I can't wait to try the rest, and I still haven't grown tired of the Commando.
10/10

EDIT: Just beat the game 8 hours in, that was so unforgiving. Damn, my heart was racing all the way through.

EDIT 2: Just beat the game with a friend 10 hours in. I had a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blast. Damn.

11/10

This game.

Still haven't finished the game and I'm well over 6 hours in.
The humour is great, the gameplay fun, the editability cool, the combat system is interesting, the plot is engaging.
If you like tactical combat RPG and a nice load of cheesy humour and a great ton of laughs, go for it. Worth its price, and you can find it in websites for the measly price of 1€.
