Farming Simulator 25 continues Giants Software’s long-standing policy of requiring players to purchase two copies of the game to host dedicated servers, and it’s time this outdated approach was reevaluated. While the gameplay itself remains enjoyable, this restrictive multiplayer model feels increasingly out of touch with modern gaming standards.

For a series that thrives on cooperative play and community engagement, it’s frustrating that Giants Software still hasn’t implemented a more player-friendly solution for hosting servers. Not only are players forced to buy a second copy of the game, but they also need to double up on any DLC purchases. This feels exploitative and unnecessary, especially in a game designed around collaboration.

Many other games in similar genres allow players to self-host or use third-party tools without these additional costs, yet Farming Simulator fans are stuck with the same outdated paywall that has existed throughout the series. This policy creates an avoidable barrier for dedicated players who want more control over their multiplayer experience.

It’s time to modernize and remove these needless restrictions. Until then, Farming Simulator 25 remains a solid game hindered by an outdated and frustrating multiplayer policy.

Technical Issues

Unfortunately, the game is also plagued by technical problems that further detract from the experience:

  • Manure heaps stop working after reloading the game. The only way to fix this is to delete and replace the heap each time you reload, which is ridiculous and frustrating.
  • Players must constantly delete the shader cache to prevent stuttering issues—a recurring problem in the Farming Simulator series.
  • The game is prone to crashes.
  • There are instances of save files randomly failing to load. The only fix is to load a backup save, often leading to progress loss due to rollbacks.

These technical issues, combined with the outdated multiplayer model, make Farming Simulator 25 a mixed gameplay. While the core gameplay remains enjoyable, the experience is marred by problems that Giants Software needs to address to meet modern gaming standards.
