The game is beautiful, and I guess it's a good game, if you're into tight schedules and fast-paced strategy, which I'm not.
Also, they went full-on over the top with the achevements, which, besides numerous, can be either very grindy or even semi-impossible (achievements for playing/winning against the game's lead designer? that's awful!), which, combined with the aforementioned dislike, earned this negative review.

This is one of those games that tickle my OCD. One of those that I have to see everything running smoothly. One of those I've spent countless hours trying new stuff, alt-tabbing to spreadsheets to compare results with predictions.

It doesn't mean you cannot enjoy it doing your normal, garden-variety factories. Or a confusing heap of structures with such a convoluted belt system that 'spaghetti' doesn't do it justice anymore. Or a huge sprawling complex that you must absolutely depend on a car to move around, with a huge Transport Tycoon-like rail network.

Well, for someone who plays KoL since 2008, I wouldn't know what to say to people who haven't played it (except, perhaps, "play it") - this game is just like it, only animated. If you love KoL, you'll love this game. If you don't know KoL, well, you should! and if you hate KoL, that probably means you're a terrible person. Seriously dude, hating KoL is not cool.

So go try it if you haven't already, and you'll know pretty soon if you should buy this game.

It's not easy to write a review for EVE. The sheer volume of what can be done ingame is staggering, but it's not for everyone. It's a game about people and their relationships, notwithstanding the whole "in space" aspect. Whether your idea of a fun time is to produce goods to sell, play the market, or ruin someone else's day, it's all on the table. Be a pirate, a miner, a line fighter, a politician, a logistics dude, FWIW you can basically keep yourself forever in the meta-game, never even logging on, to alter the course of events for thousands of players.
Take a stand. Make a name for yourself. Adapt... or die.

A nice, refreshing take on today's standars of "you-play-you-win, everyone's got a medal" culture. Just like a healthy, zen anti-frustration self-improvement practice, assuming you can handle it and avoid ragequitting.

A great game, overall.
