Take a Match-4 puzzle game, throw in a bit of Edmund McMillen weirdness, and mix. Bum-bo is part match game, part deckbuilder, part roguelike, and all cardboard. If you liked The Binding of Isaac, you'll probably like this prequel.

Played this game very early when it was still on Greenlight. It was good then, it improved even more, and best of all, it doesn't pressure you to spend money at all. You can obtain basically everything just through playing.

A game that gives you tons of questions and laughs at your attempts to answer them. It's actually pretty great.

A perfect example of the "Rogue-Like" genre, Isaac meshes an interesting and abstract story with tight, fun gameplay. The replay value is beyond enormous, with hundreds of unlockables. A graphical nod to The Legend of Zelda helps the fantastic pixel art shine. I've played this game hundreds of times and don't regret a single nanosecond.

To get it out of the way first, I haven't yet beaten the game, but I am having an absolute blast trying!

Rogue Legacy is a hack-n-slash action game with roguelike elements like permadeath. Once your knight is dead, he's gone, but there's ALWAYS decendants! Each decendant has a random selection of abilities and handicaps to help or hinder you through the castle. The randomly generated castle, that is.

Rogue Legacy is all about incremental progress, and as you play and die and play and die, you'll get better and unlock more skills. All the while, you'll be moving forward toward the end, then through New Game+ mode, then a second, and on and on!

Rogue Legacy has been one of my favorite games of 2013, and I'm sure it'll be one of yours!

Gone Home isn't so much a traditional game as it is a performance piece, the same as a play or a short story, except you control the pace and rhythm of said story. Interaction is mostly limited to only walking through the house and examining items strewn about. Don't think that, with that said, it offers nothing to the player.

What IS in Gone Home is a fantastic story of teen love and finding your own identity. The way it is told, spoonfed to you in small bits, is what makes it far more interesting than if it were simply read as prose.

Gone Home is an experience, and one I recommend to anyone. You will come out of it greater than you went in, provided you take your time and pay attention, of course. Think of it as a DVD. You watch it once, you probably won't watch it again immediately. But there will be some rainy day when the story has gotten a little fuzzy in your head, and you'll replay Gone Home to refresh it. And you'll enjoy it all over again.

How can one not recommend Skyrim? Expansive, beautiful, and a sense of epic grandeur befitting the Elder Scrolls name. Buy it, play it, love it.
