I have some conflicted feelings about this. I mean, it's great, don't get me wrong... it's just that I've expected brave VR innovations from Valve here and we didn't really get any. Instead, we got a polished, beautiful and well-made game, that took almost no risks in terms of game mechanics.

HL:A is accessible and very fun to play. It's amazing to once again experience this universe after all these years. It's super nostalgic and sometimes genuinely scary: screw those black poison headcrabs!

But I really miss having some VR mechanics that are present in almost all games now, especially melee. Not having a possibility to smack a headcrab or a zombie dead with a brick or steel pipe - well, that's a crime. And what is going on with headshots here? - I need to shoot a combine around 8 times in the face (with blood and everything) before it finally dies!

Other than that, it's a full-scale VR game of a great quality in a great and nostalgic universe. Don't see the reason for getting a Valve Index to play it, so use whatever HMD you see fit and it will run great.
