If you want to add me, please comment on my profile first, unless we know each other some other way. If I've added you and you don't know me, then it's probably because I can't contact you some other way (e.g. on the forum).
Avatar is an alligator snapping turtle, credited on at least one site to "Lee Sanders/NTI/Landov".
I play a variety of games but my favored genres are 2D platformers and JRPGs.
My wishlist is not a list of all the games I want; it is merely a list of games on Steam that are not purchaseable anywhere else.
More about my gaming
Long-term games-to-finish list (as of 2021-03-10):
* Adventure of a Lifetime, a visual novel [curator request]
* Celestian Tales: Old North, a JRPG
* Dragonsphere, a point-and-click adventure
* Frane: Dragons' Odyssey, an action JRPG (?) [curator request]
* Jeanne d'Arc, a strategy JRPG
* La-Mulana, an NLX 2D platformer
* The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC, a JRPG
* Operation Abyss, a dungeon-crawler
* Recettear, a business sim and action JRPG
* Pokémon Crystal, a mon-collecting JRPG
* this one Combo SM/Z3 Randomizer that I have on hand

(NLX = "non-linear exploration"; basically my term for a metroidvania)

FYI, I'm not on Steam as much as I used to be, because Steam pushed a major update in October 2019 that made it much less convenient to use. This post details what happened. (Also, a side-effect of -no-browser is that the Friends list isn't automatically signed into.)

These days I try to buy games DRM-free where possible. Places where I get DRM-free games:
* GamersGate: it indicates DRM scheme or "DRM-free" on store pages. While the downloader requires communicating with the server to fetch the installer, the installer is DRM-free.
* GOG: all games are DRM-free. (Though a few may have multiplayer modes that require authentication on a server.)
* Humble Store: games with a "DRM free" icon are available as direct downloads. (Steam keys are commonly available alongside them.)
* itch.io: it should say that you get access to installer files. (Steam keys are commonly available alongside them.) This platform specializes in indie games.
* JAST USA: all games are DRM-free. This store only sells visual novels.
* Steam: some games are DRM-free, but there is no consistent official indicator for this, so it's usually better to shop elsewhere.
* Some developers/publishers have their own web stores which are DRM-free.

Other stores that may be DRM-free but that I haven't yet shopped at:
* BOOTH.pm: I have barely heard of this, but it seems at least some games are DRM-free. This site seems focused on doujin games, including Comiket games.
* DLsite: reportedly, it depends on the game. Has lots of doujin games.
* GameJolt: at least some games are DRM-free?
* FireFlower: all games are DRM-free.
* MangaGamer: all games are DRM-free. This store mostly only sells visual novels.
* Nuuvem: a few games are DRM-free.
* Zoom-platform: all games are DRM-free, from what I've heard?

Hello, I see from an old, old thread that you found a way to trick Steam into opening with no browsers.... That -no-browser flag doesn't seem to work any more. Do you have any tricks up your sleeve? :)
Thanks!

Missing seeing you online though. Hope you are still having fun.

I'm dumb. Your last post was highlighted when I got the notification for the post and I just assumed that it was recent like the one below it. Sorry!

Hey shiel (from two posts below), congrats on quoting a post of mine from 7 years ago:

...just to complain about it being unearthed, by the post right above yours:

(I'm linking the posts individually in case any of them get deleted.)
Closer attention to timestamps reveals that I replied two days after the OP posted, whereas...your reply was a full four days after it got necro'd by another rando (and no one else even said anything in between).

If, on the other hand, you actually do think I'm a "champ" for that post and not being sarcastic, well, cool, then.
