Signalis is a solid survival horror title that's worth the asking price and your time. It takes great inspiration from RE and especially Silent Hill but never reaches those great highs those games had.

Disclaimer I played the game with tank controls.
The gameplay is the highlight here. It's competent, it offers a decent challenge, the game itself doesn't outstay its welcome and the puzzles do not insult your intelligence. As per standard survival horror affair you can either sneak past most rooms or choose to spend precious resources which you don't know if you'll need later. HOWEVER reaching the third chapter you notice that the game repeats itself a lot on the overall goal of each. You need to find 6 different "keys" to open the penultimate door. You do this 3 times. In RE you do this once and that's why it has so much impact.
I'm also not a fan of EVERY SINGLE ENEMY being able to come back to life. In RE it worked because only basic enemies could do that and not nearly as often. Giving you a sense of uncertainty that isn't as present here.

Visually the game is gorgeous, I am a fan of low poly / pixel art games and this one is just stunning. I do prefer fixed camera angles ala RE but it did a good job of making each area look distinct and the game felt varied enough on a visual standpoint that it wasn't a problem.
I also want to point out how exceptional the ambiance and score of this game was, which did an amazing job of enhancing the already great atmosphere.

Story wise the game didn't do much for me. Personally not a fan of neither the anime aesthetic (specifically in a game like this) nor the characters all being androids. I just couldn't get invested at all. Don't get me wrong the presentation itself is amazing but this bugs me about all Humble Bundle titles, it's all just anime waifus. Oh well.
The game's story is very open to interpretation, a little too much and the twist in the end that nothing was actually real was a huge bummer. The game also offers multiple endings, which are not all that different to one another and are not worth replaying the game over.

Overall the game doesn't have the replayability of RE nor the amazing story and layers of symbolism silent hill has but if you are looking to scratch that survival horror itch then this is just the game for that.

Norco has a charming artstyle and it is very intriguing once you first start the game out. However all that quickly wears out since the game's story is rather pointless, with very poorly written character dialogue and very out of place mechanics.

While the game does a good job of immersing you into the world from the start without overexplaining too much, I just found zero reason to care about the it. The characters are all either very bland or they all talk like they are from 2014-5 forums and image boards. BRUH BRUH BRUH.

The game does offer some very significant choices they are very few and far between, it's, for the most part, linear without any good puzzles to spice things up. It throws a couple new mechanics here and there trying to keep up variety but they all fall short. The RPG fights are laughable and the boat sections are tedious. The story as a whole also suffers from a pacing issue, while it was short it felt like it dragged on because it offered no intrigue.

For a point and click there just isn't enough interactivity with the environment (while good at the start, this gets a lot worse about halfway through the game), and Kay, being the blank slate that she is offers no interesting descriptions or thoughts about anything around her. There's even a "mind map" that lets you keep track of characters and everything that has been happening yet there's no flavor. We are supposed to be in a mind of a character and it's basically just a game wiki.

There's just nothing interesting there and it all felt like a big waste of time. Neither the journey or the ending felt fulfilling in any way. I love good point and click adventures but this just isn't it. I'm sorry.

This game is what to roguelites what Hollow Knight is to Metroidvanias. Amazing visuals, mechanically rich and diverse and it grows in depth the more you play all the while weaving every single game mechanic into the story flawlessly. It pays respect not only to Greek mythology but future mythos as well with the hidden aspects. I do have a couple of nitpicks with the story and enemy variety but by all means, this is a modern classic and as close to a masterpiece as you can get. Just get it, it's dirt cheap too.

Prey is an amazing title that flew under a lot of people's radar's due to the controversy surrounding the reboot and lack of proper advertising. Very much a spiritual successor to system shock and other "immersive sims" or as I like to call them, actually good RPG games.

While the game just throws you in there without much explanation and right in the thick of things, it still manages to get you to care for what happened and wanting to figure it out. The pacing from exploring to figuring stuff out is perfect, the plot is good enough to keep you engaged taking into account all of your choices and the order in which you choose to tackle objectives and it's got excellent voice acting. The plot twist of the game was a bit easy to guess but it doesn't ruin the experience.

The gameplay is where the game shines, while the gunplay is servicable it's but one of your many, many tools to advance the story, from stealth, physics based combat, hacking and a lot more you can approach any given situation the way you want to. Hell you can even finish the game with no upgrades whatsoever. These types of games always have the perfect mix between story and gameplay which truly immerses you into the world.

It does have a few shortcomings, the crafting system of the game sounds good on paper, you can use all the junk items you find and managing your inventory, nothing is wasted! However this just results in taking extra trips back to the recycler to recycle the junk items. You can also craft skill points, and since there's an abundance of materials it was pretty easy to accumulate over a hundred skill points while having entire skill trees unlocked. Making "choose your playstyle" into "use the right tool for any given situation". It goes against what the gameplay is all about.

However, even with that issue, the game still excels at what it does, and that is worthy of the title of spiritual successor to the likes of Deus Ex and System Shock (not you Bioshock). Pick this up standalone, as the DLC really isn't worth it.

Game is alright, the leveling process is a bit too braindead but I can see the appeal if the late game content is a bit more involved. However
20k que and crashing mid way through. No thanks. The game had that much que in closed beta and they just opened up the server to the f2p players instead of adding more.

A game with a lot of potential that realizes none of it.

The game's concept is interesting enough that combined with the praise it has received I decided to pick it up but it didn't live up to any of it. It's the most run of the mill ubisoft open world game I have ever played with none of the positives that come from the polish of ubisoft.

The story starts out as something mildly interesting / promising but it devolves into a revenge story pretty fast, all the characters are boring, NPC's have no emotion whatsoever whether visual or from the voice acting. The audio quality is also pretty bad. Aloy has no personality, in the story or just how she interacts with the world. The dialogue choices change nothing about the outcome of quests. The writing in general is just weak, game devs, please hire professional writers. This is especially surprising considering it is a Sony exclusive, at the very least they offer a believable and interesting story.

The open world design that of a ubisoft game. No stories to be told in the world through visuals, just copy pasted assets everywhere, collectibles and bandit / robot camps. The robot camps are very reminiscent of an MMO, zones of certain enemies that lose aggro once you go far enough away and they respawn with the exact same number and types of enemies after minutes that you've cleared them. All the side quests consist of "kill this and collect that" . The world just feels incredibly static.

Stealth is a joke, bushes everywhere and terrible AI that forgets about you if you roll twice and get into a bush. Melee is boring, instead of being hitbox based attacks hone in on your target, same goes for robots to you, for their wind up phase of attacking at least.
It's not satisfying at all and the combat overall is a dodgefest.
I haven't tried all the weapons but most of the ones I have tried are boring aside from the bow and to that you get no meaningful upgrades aside from stat boosts. The appeal of the combat is that you shoot weak points and knock parts off of a robot. It's the only aspect of the game executed competently however it's not enough to carry the game on its own.
There's also human enemies... which uh... yeah.

There's tedious crafting with tons of different materials as a means to extend playtime even more than pointless collectible gathering and exp farm for skill points and fast travel is gated behind a rare resource. Have fun!

This game is the definition of soulless and generic. Please save your money for something else.

While I found a lot to enjoy in RDR2, I generally can't recommend the game due to a lot of backwards design decisions Rockstar keeps making in their games.

First of all, the story. It's a testament to the writer's abilities that only from a few lines in the first game they manage to create a coherent and actually good story about John's old gang, the characters are all believable each with their little quirks and mannerisms that make them come alive while you are playing. Puts a lot of weight behind Dutch's lines in the original. When it comes to plot and characters the first half of the game is flawless and while the story does stay strong throughout, can't help but feel some characters didn't get enough development but if you're getting this just for the story you won't be disappointed.

The atmosphere is also top notch. NPC's going about their daily routines, the very detailed environment, all boosted by the high quality graphics, the ambient sounds of each locale such as the busy streets of the town or the birds chirping and the tree leaves fluttering in the breeze, make for some environments you just wanna stroll through just because they are so breathtaking and alive. Nothing bad to say about it.

However that's more or less where the praise ends from me. Gameplay wise it's a shallow mess. The mission design does nothing to hide the fact and actually puts the extremely weak gunplay to the spotlight for a lot of the back half of the game. There's nothing but shootout after shootout with an entire army in each mission, even when it could have been avoided. For example when breaking a certain character out of prison. Instead of having him be outside the prison, as initially planned, the characters go up against an entire army of guards with no cover, while the guards have the high ground. There's suspension of disbelief, ludonarrative dissonance and then there's the developers insulting your intelligence.

Rockstar is trying to be as realistic as possible shove in details just for details sake without thinking how it can hinder the gameplay experience (or not necessarily boost it in any way). The needless "survival" mechanics. Having an animation for picking up items seems cool at first until you realize nobody would pick things up this slow while stealing, realism aside it just gets tedious after the first 100 times. Same goes for browsing shops (even the fast way, the book, is slow), skinning an animal, etc.

There's a lot of other small things that all add up to making the experience less enjoyable, such as the animation for each gun is stellar but the feedback you get from shooting someone leaves a lot to be desired, there's no challenge to the gunfights either, you can't discard duplicated guns, navigating menus is awful, mechanics getting introduced in a mission, such as herding but never having a use outside of some specific missions, tons of repeated random encounters, a few main and side missions using the exact same location, absolutely meaningless camp upgrades and I could go on and on.

Once you get past how pretty the world is there's really not all that much there. Any activity that has to do with combat is less interesting due to the weak gunplay and there's just not that much else to do aside from fishing. Credit where credit is due, they nailed the fishing.

The game just boils down to, talk to someone, ride to somewhere, shoot some stuff and ride back. They could have made the riding controls a bit more in depth, could have had roaming herds you could round up and auction on a market, could have made the *spoilers* end game farm more of a management minigame rather than a chore minigame, a dynamic bounty hunter system or trade router / convoy system but instead we get shrivelled horse balls in the cold. I don't know, maybe I just expected more from the game - side of things in a game than I should have.

If you're into the plot and only plot or if you are really itching for a wild west theme go for it. Otherwise it is an easy skip.

DUSK is a must play for every and any FPS fan, it's a masterpiece of FPS design, it has virtually no flaws and remains fun all the way through.

Quake lite movement mechanics that are more accessible but still skillful to pull off bunny hopping with, all enemies are fun and different to play against, intricate level design which gets wackier by the episode, the game's pacing is absolutely perfect and it does not outstay its welcome, and of course the game has a killer soundtrack, better than anything Mick Gordon put out for NuDoom.
Oh and mods are in.

Buy it, play it, worship it. This is the peak of FPS games.

This is a game I am surprised hadn't been made sooner. It's battle royale but it doesn't feel like I am wasting my time with insane downtime. I love game itself and the idea behind it but it has two major flaws.

Team games suck. Having to rely on other random people to work together with iffy mechanics is just not fun. It's just an eye roll.
Devs are way too slow with the updates and the first big one was very underwhelming. I don't understand why they don't just release modding tools and let the community do their job for them. You'd have hundreds of maps in a day, thousands within a week. Lots of ♥♥♥♥ but also lots of good ones you can add into the game.
Just make community servers earn no exp, there you go.

Fix those two and you've literally got a flawless game for what they are trying to do. As it stands it's just not worth it...
