Personally, I want to be as neutral towards this game as possible, I hope my review does not have too much bias (even though it probably does). Alright, first of all, this game is really fun. The story isn't that bad, the characters are really fun to play, the fatalities are awesome. The krypt can be grindy but it's not too bad either. Overall, this game is super great. However, most of the content and how you get cosmetics in this game revolves around Towers of Time and while after the "patch", it has became much much easier, some stages are still almost impossible to do due to the stupid amount/types of modifiers and conditions you have obtain to win. It's bad enough to the point where I see myself actually play the game 20% of the time while the AI plays the other 80%. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not the best player, and probably not even decent either. Although, I do see myself around the average if not slightly above. To put simply, if the average player can't beat these Towers with stupid modifiers unless they get really lucky (also even the AI can't beat it), why is it still a thing in the game? To be honest, it's not fun playing against an enemy when missiles barrage me every 2 seconds, or when I have to fight a bot with 5 times my health while stupid random modifiers appear around the map to put me at an even further disadvantage. The only way to beat some of these is to stack "konsumables" that can be pretty rare, so if you don't have them you're kinda screwed and have to go grind for that konsumable or spend money to be able to "grind" faster. The person who thought this was a good idea needs to be fired, like I rather grind on an EA game rather than play this mode. I know some people have different opinions an think that this mode is actually pretty cool. To that, I do agree somewhat, and do find myself enjoying ToT after the 1.002 patch that made the ToT enemies a lot easier. There's also the issue with the frame rate being capped at 30 for fatalities and fatal blows and there's currently a mod to fix that, but c'mon just add that feature into the game officially already. That aside, I still think this game is really great but I don't recommend you getting it until they fix this mode. Unless, of course, you only get it to play locally with friends or online, which I think is still fun as hell.

Story: 6.5/10 Standard B movie story, some flawed mechanics, but overall not bad
Graphics: 9/10 Big improvement from the last game, some visual bugs tho
Music: 8/10 I dig the tracks, they're nice, but obviously not awards winning
Map Design: 9/10 Some maps are really detailed and very immersive
Gameplay: 9/10 Feels really nice when you can pull off some super long combo
Voice Acting: 10/10 I mean Rhonda is kinda eh, but everyone else did a splendid job
Customization: 9/10 Wow I mean there's so much you can change, abilities, skins (though most of them are really weak), gears, augments (PVE only)
Content: 5/10 I don't play much multiplayer, mainly ToT which is fine but some stages need to be fixed ASAP

I don't give out 10s a lot because I feel that seems a little biased unless I truly believe they did a phenomenal job.

Honestly, I think this is a game with great potential and could definitely be a lot better if it gets put on a more suitable path. Get it if you don't care too much for cosmetics and are just looking to playing online or brawl it out with some friends locally. Otherwise, this game is gonna have to be a no from me. (Will change if they ever fix ToT)

EDIT: Added some extra information regarding some things I think they could improve upon.

EDIT 2: I've changed this review to be more neutral and fair by considering both the pros and cons and my personal opinion on the matter. I'm just trying to tell people what I think about the current state of the game, take it with a grain of salt.

EDIT 3: The newest update has added an option to play at 60 FPS.

You're right, Steam should let you give a thumbs sideways or something, and your review is much better argued than most negative reviews here.

I actually also did enjoy the hell out of labbing each characters and learning their combos. And while I did give it a thumbs down, I did provide reasons for actually picking up the game as well as reasons for not doing so in my review:

"Get it if you don't care too much for cosmetics and are just looking to playing online or brawl it out with some friends locally. Otherwise, this game is gonna have to be a no from me. (Will change if they ever fix ToT)"

However, since Steam does not offer a rating in between an upvote and a downvote, I chose to downvote simply because I myself did not get enough enjoyment out of what I paid for. I just wanted to give a review with actual feedback rather than just some lazy comments hating or supporting the game without any reasoning behind it.

I might have like this game more had I not bought it at release. Unfortunately, the content (including local play and Klassic Towers) has burned me out but I may return here and there in the future.

You don't HAVE to play content that you don't enjoy, though. Yes, a few of the tower modifiers are still kind of ridiculous, and the Gauntlet is explicitly designed to be an ultimate challenge kind of thing, but you are free to ignore them and play modifier-free local matches against the AI or something. I find it quite fun just to learn the basics of each character and experiment with different variations.

Personally I can easily breeze through 90% of the towers and the rest can be cheesed with heavy zoning + konsumables (of which I have about 2000 in store atm, so I don't know what you mean by having to buy them, especially since you can't actually buy them with money).

You are, of course, fully entitled to your opinion, I'm just wondering if you might actually enjoy the game more if you approached it differently considering you're giving most parts of the game 9 or 8 out of 10.

The fun I did get out of the game was playing it with housemates, doing the story mode, and some ToT + Klassic Tower fights, however, that probably added up to less than 50% of my total playtime. So in other words, I personally think what I got from this game was not worth the overall invested time due to those reasons. This isn't Dark Souls nor is it Division 2, I bought a fighting game, not a game designed to be hard on purpose or an MMO designed to be grindy. Once again, it's just a personal opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

I have most of the cosmetics already since I've put hundreds of hours into it (most of which were me watching the AI battle for me) and I didn't exactly have fun doing that. Even if I did play it myself, I would have consistently lose due to the modifiers (due most of my hours being before patch 1.002) and therefore would not have fun. As for the content, some of them (especially the Gauntlet) is "still" extremely hard. I know that's how they "designed" it but I still did not like the decision they chose as I did not have fun trying to create a "strategy" to try and beat a clearly overpowered opponent.

In other words the game is awesome in every way but you're giving it thumbs down because you can't instantly unlock all virtual clothes and some of the content *used to be* too hard?
