Bravo Bungie.... Bravo!

I am writing an updated review of Destiny 2, right after the final shape and after the conclusion of the Dark and Light saga has ended. I don't think I can really write a short review as there is so much I want to say about this game, but I'll try my best to keep it short.

It's been a few years since Shadowkeep's release (also when it became free to play), which is when I started playing this game. Though I did play in 2018, just not a lot, since I was confused on what to do after the main story. I initially began playing for the looter/shooter vibe of the game which felt great. The gameplay is smooth (majority of the time) and it feels genuinely good to play. Raids are fantastic, buildcrafting has been always developed more and more advanced, and the lootpool has expanded with so many options you will probably never see an identical guardian in your game-life.

Getting to the main point, this game WAS and IS fantastic. Bungie may have made a lot of good and bad changes or updates/dlc releases that had a swing in the numbers of the player-base from time to time. Overall though, the experience, especially the story and its now concluded main story-line was just stunning. It sucks a lot of newer players are unable to play from the real D2 vanilla experience up to where we are in the final shape, but for those who did like myself, I found it exciting and jaw dropping with every new story revelation. Problem with the game though is that it's a bit difficult to get in to if you are looking to learn about the story of destiny as a whole. A lot of seasonal content that had context behind a lot of different story moments is also missing, some pivotal moments like "you had to be there to see it unravel this way" which incurs a lot of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) hence why I wouldn't reccomend this game. However, because the Dark and Light Saga story concluded, NOW is a great time to hop into the game and experience the new direction in which bungie may lay out the game with.

This game almost didn't feel like a game, it was an experience across years of built-up story that had an almost "Avengers: Endgame" vibe to it. I have made some new friends because of this game that I hang out with almost daily and they have been my fireteam for both story and raid content for those last few years, which I am so grateful for. I understand that D2's playerbase consists of about 70% solo players, so it's a privilege to have such dedicated friends who welcomed me in with open arms. I suppose this doesn't really talk about the game itself, but I am trying to portray what this game has done for me on a personal level. And I am thankful for that.

Concluding the Conclusions:

Finally, I am going to say that I do in fact RECOMMEND this game. For both returning and new players alike. The story was fantastic and I do hope for any vets or new players that Bungie keeps up their good work on the story side of things and continue to develop the world of Destiny in a good direction. But be aware that Bungie is now not only working on a new game (Marathon) but also they are known to have their VERY HIGHS AND VERY LOWS throughout a Destiny life cycle.

So, if you end up playing the game as a new player, or return to seek a whole new story experience... I do hope that the light finds you well.

Once again, thank you Bungie for such a fantastic few years, but sadly it ends here for me (at least after I get through the Episodes first, which is the new seasons format)
