All of the recommendations below are purely my opinion, and are for the PC version of Destiny 2 using mouse and keyboard. I'm of the mind that there are no true "God Rolls" for any weapon. Find the roll that feels good to YOU!



Gold perks are excellent all-around perks that will work for both PvE and PvP content. Blue perks are recommended strictly for PvE content. Red perks are recommended strictly for PvP content. I want to stress that Gold perks aren’t flat out the best perks on a weapon. Sometimes Blue or Red perks will be better in their specific type of content. Any perk listed without a color is totally viable, I just value other perks above it. Every possible perk isn't listed for every weapon, I leave out perks I think are actually bad. (Lookin' at you, Air Assault!)



Note: The video below is outdated. In Season of the Lost, Warmind Cells had their range and damage decreased. Many of the Warmind mods also had their energy cost increased.

  • Stability stat actually does do things. Reduces the reticle shake for holding past perfect draw, increases the forgiveness time for perfect draw, and how long you can hold a bow before it fires. I still wouldn't focus it by any means.

• Fusion rifles don't crit, always aim for center mass to try to land the highest number of bolts.
  
• Accelerated vs Liquid Coils, the age old question. Accelerated will have higher (burst) DPS, Liquid will have more overall (sustained) damage. For general use, I prefer speed to total damage and therefore lean toward Accelerated Coils, but the longer a fight lasts, the more value you'll get out of Liquid Coils.
  
  • In PvP, I would only use Liquid Coils in situations where it can be paired with another damage perk and their combined buff allows us to secure a kill with fewer bolts. This grants the weapon a lot more consistency.
• What stats should I be looking for?
  
  • Range and zoom stat bonuses have been extremely compressed making it not worth focusing in most situations, instead focus on Stability.

Regardless of active firing mode, for the sake of armor mods, Vex always counts as a fusion rifle.

When paired with the seasonal mod "Particle Deconstruction", 1K is currently one of the best boss DPS options in the game.

While it does have slightly less optimal range than Cartesian Coordinate (because it uses barrels instead of sights) and can't roll Vorpal Weapon, I still think this is the best choice for special ammo boss DPS. It's really just because of one perk: Auto-Loading Holster, which lets you empty a clip into a boss, swap to a heavy weapon and continue DPSing, and then swap back to a fully-loaded Zealot's Reward. Pair this with an Auto-Loading heavy like Threaded Needle to really minimize your downtime.



One of the best legendary special ammo boss DPS weapons. Two things really stand out on Cartesian: Vorpal Weapon (which is just free boss DPS), and its outrageous aim assist stat which is probably a holdover from D2Y1, when fusions worked very differently. I doubt we'll ever see another rapid-fire fusion come close to this kind of aim assist.

Under Pressure/Tap the Trigger & Firmly Planted/Tap the Trigger are absolutely bonkers PvP rolls. Having double accuracy perks makes the weapon feel extremely consistent. Because of how it functions, Tap the Trigger should be active on every burst.



The Merciless Catalyst is a rare drop from Strikes or Nightfalls via completions or kills.
Merciless is one of the better Special ammo Boss DPS options when paired with the seasonal mod "Particle Deconstruction," though it chews through ammo. Its 50% damage bonus from Impetus also allows it to make short work of Majors.

Stat-wise, Coriolis Force is in a really weird spot. From what I've seen the shot pattern isn't affected by stability very much, and due to previous nerfs, maxing out its range stat only gives an extra 1.5m. I would instead focus on lowering the charge time.
Unlike other fusion rifles, it takes 5 shots to fully proc Particle Reconstruction.

  • Blinding Grenades are excellent for any type of PvE content- even GM Nightfalls and solo dungeons. Blinding Grenades can essentially stun large groups of enemies. When an enemy is blinded they move at a very slow rate, and cannot shoot or use abilities (doesn't work on bosses). Bonus points if it also has Auto-Loading Holster. This allows you to stun, clean up some adds, and then swap back and re-stun.
• What stats and perks should I be looking for?
  
  • Velocity and Handling
    
  • Blinding Grenades + Danger Zone is an insanely good perk combo. Based on my testing I'd say it at least doubles the effective range of the blinding debuff. I would highly recommend that combo for any PvE activities, even in Grandmasters where I know it will be a lot more difficult to activate Danger Zone.
• Why does each shot have two different damage numbers?
  
• Grenade launchers are projectile-based, and therefore have no damage falloff.
  
• Unlike other lightweight weapon classes, lightweight grenade launchers do not grant bonus mobility or sprint speed.
  
• Wave frame grenade launchers detonate upon impact with the ground and then a damaging wave runs along the floor. Similar to a Voidwall or Thermite grenade.
