After 6 months I'm changing this review to Recommended. Most of the bugs and issues were fixed, and we finally got the first DLC which I really liked. The problem with constant lack of ammo still persists, but I got used to it and to the game overall, passed both master levels on the highest difficulty.

But I stand by my previous statement – the game is worse than 2016 Doom.

Original review:

First of all, that was a terrible launch. I and plenty of people could not start the game completely for some unknown reasons. Support were completely ignoring the tickets, so we had to troubleshoot it on our own. That is totally unacceptable for such big companies as Bethesda. After 5 hours I finally managed to get the game working by completely reinstalling Windows(Lol).

Now to the game:
– The platforming and its implementation is very annoying and gameplay ruining.
– The game is much easier and casual than the 2016 Doom. The only thing that makes fighting harder is the constant lack of ammo. Such constraints are a terrible idea for a combat-driven game like Doom.
– Glorykills are now mandatory, even on the lowest difficulty. Without it you will constantly run out of health.
– Chainsaw is no longer a "one shot" tool, you will use it only to replenish ammo, and the game will force you to do so very often.
– Terrible optimization, to get consistent 120fps on I5-9600&5700XT I had to lower the settings to medium. 2016 Doom runs on ultra on my PC easily. Also, the game somehow loses performance after 20-30 minutes of gameplay, the GPU is only 50-60% loaded. Restarting the game helps.
– Also a lot of bugs. I fall out of the walls multiple times.
– The game has lost its horror atmosphere completely.
– Why the f do I need a separate Bethesda account to play a singleplayer game?

By no means I'm saying that the game is bad. The problem lies in the high level of expectations and promises from the devs, which were not fulfilled. Do not buy it now. Wait for the discount and until everything is patched.

Well, they only gave Doom 2016 4k support, says a lot, well at least to me, that they said they wouldn't give Eternal support. 2016 rememberable, the eternal is forgettable
