I will preface this review with a request to the devs. Please fix level 10. of the campaign. Every level prior builds up from the previous one, but level 10. takes you all the way back to level 0 prestige. It's lazy and not fun.

That aside, this game is genuine fun. It's not complicated, it's relaxing. The level challenges are interesting.
The modding community is fantastic and you will find yourself having more workshop content than the game itself is big. There is a massive variety of sea creatures and decorations, you won't get bored of adding new fishes into the game.

There are many good things to say about Owlboy.
The gameplay brings refreshing ideas with the friends system, each with their own ability. I like that the story influences who is in your party on more than one occasion, and the levels are designed accordingly. There may be some secrets here and there that I couldn't figure out, but it didn't bother me either since I was not aiming for a 100% run.

The difficulty is not high either, an experienced player would have little to no issues playing this game, and the pace of the game flows smoothly.

The graphics are stunning and meticulous. The character designs are quirky, but some like the pirates are very cool. Though Buccaneer might just be my favourite for reasons I shall not give away here.
What makes the game a 10/10 for me, however, is the story. It is incredibly touching and every character's action is well written and thought out, and the direction of the story is reflected upon in each dialogue. You can really see how everyone's actions have their influence on the course of things, for the good and the bad.

This is the only game to have made me tear up on more than one occasion for how heartbreaking some scenes are. It's beautiful.
If you can play a metroidvania, I implore you to play this game and see for yourself what a wonderful experience Owlboy is.

This has got to be one of the games that, upon finishing, leaves me with the fondest memories. It's a colourful, goofy, well orchestrated platformer meant for two friends, be it allies or enemies. Why? Because you can hit your friend with your attacks, punch, burn, dissolve, blow up or throw them into their death. Just the necessary to spice up your otherwise generic coop platoformer game. The levels are exceptionally well designed, with a unique soundtrack and brightly coloured enemies. The storyline is goofy and the narrator is one of my favourite. So good that I keep convincing new friends to play the game with me again, and again, and again.
