Shin Megami Tensei V back in 2021 was an epic JRPG that really needed a better core story (or a superior method of telling it) and better hardware to run, along with some interface tweaks. The Vengeance revamp fixes all of that and adds in a lot more, making this entry the definitive version of an already-stellar post-apocalyptic demon-summoning Nahobino-ing experience.

[...] Cuisineer is a casual and relaxing take on the action-savvy roguelite genre mixed in with some breezy-if-simplistic-and-slow management gameplay. Even if you feel like you have to manage your expectations a tad, you'll do fine in Battlebrew Productions' latest, especially with the isometric attack-savvy bits where you let a cat girl go hog wild with a flame-powered spatula and grenade egg timers against fire elemental yaks and sentient potatoes tossing projectiles.

While Wanted: Dead has some charm and some interesting gameplay and minigames to break up the pace, the terrible shooting mechanics, and lack of checkpoints in crucial parts of the game mean you have to really take up the game with its own broken-as-heck terms. At the very least, it's a 10-hour-or-less thrill ride so it's not a complete slog and it has its heart in the right place design-wise. It will toughen you up, if you give it a chance.

This Indonesian indie title is one for the ages (for 2023 anyway), despite that one problem which is honestly a genre issue. Hats off to the humble team at Mojiken Studios for finally releasing a huge passion project that puts a lot of big-budget narrative-driven video games to shame.

DNF Duel is flashy, easy to get into, and has enough content to keep you entertained. While I feel that the game could use a tad more content beyond Story Mode and a few other challenges that are pretty standard, it’s at least a bit more substantial than Guilty Gear Strive’s launch version.

While the game’s combat is more offense-oriented, there’s thankfully a lot more substance in its combat than meets the eye that makes it worth the US$50/RM200+.

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge is a hella fun and cheery beat-em-up that feels meaty and doesn’t wear out its welcome, especially with friends. And when’s the last time you’ve touched a Ninja Turtles game with this much love dedicated to the franchise and its 90s 16-bit & arcade video game legacy? Exactly.

Great controls, lovely graphics and music, fun gameplay, and some challenges to overcome: what's not to love?

Souldiers is worthy of your time if you’re looking for a challenge of the indie and 2D action variant. I mean, a HUGE challenge. This game kicked my ass just as many times as Elden Ring, and this game's made by a small team.

Retro Forge are a team to look out for, because their first effort here is amazing stuff. If you want the kind of game that makes you suffer and enjoy it, all the while making you a better player over time from constant deaths in a 2D world, consider enlisting Souldiers and its fantasy trappings.
