Product received for free

Just like with their previous title, Heroes tactics, I’ve no idea why you’d play this on PC over much better turn-based strategy games, such as Heroes of Might & Magic. With its mobile pedigree and relatively simplistic gameplay I’d take the near 20 year old HoMM III over this, especially as those games are so cheap now.

I’m a little perplexed as to the positive reception for this game. Perhaps it’s the free to play aspect that’s pulling people in, or maybe the PVP, but you need to play the adventure mode for a while before unlocking it. Said mode is just a series of fairly boring battles following an incredibly linear path, with zero story.

There are also loot boxes and pay to win mechanics. Perhaps that’s why they made the adventure mode so boring, so you’d be tempted to bypass the grind to unlock units more quickly.

I've heard from popular hearthstone streamers that this is alot less P2W then most CCG's which you're almost get rekted 8 times out of 10. (Hearthstone is ~$300+/yearly & Shadowverse is ~$100 to get started)

This isn't a tcg. Hearthstone PvP is available right after the tutorial. Elder Scrolls too. Both are much more enjoyable.

Sound like it is the first f2p tcg you ever tried.

Go try jump directly into pvp on other tcg, most won`t allow you and the rest will remind you that you will get fucked without first some pve. Non of them are really fun pve.

Again, go play hearthstone the most popular card game, and play again someone that puts money in the game, then tell me if you stand a chance.
