The idea of it is genius.
To insert locally generated AI frames in between hard GPU processed frames in order to utilize more of the potential of modern GPUs and their AI processing capabilities.

However after trying it out, it's not for me. The 3X mode setting just gives too much input lag, it makes me nauseous when playing.

The 2X input lag is almost bearable, but knowing what it's like without it, just makes it unbearable anyway, and since it lowers your FPS and locks it, so it can then double it again, it doesn't give much difference in FPS gain as without using the tool at all, and then you have a bit of input lag.

What with 4000 series and on already being allowed to do frame generation natively by nVidia, tools like this one will very soon become irrelevant anyway.

The only beneficial use-case I can see for this tool is if you have a game, which is very optimized, so it's stable enough not to fluctuate the framerate too much, but your computer can only manage to push ~30FPS in it. In such a perfect scenario, you may enjoy the full benefits of the tool as intended.

TL;DR: If you want more frames, get a new graphics card.
