BG3 is like what L4D2 is for the zombie shooters genre, a game that has cemented itself as one of the greats of the genre by just being a solid game, no season passes, no microtransactions, just a game that has been made with care and passion. I don't think there will be another game like BG3 for atleast a decade, especially with the state of AAA RPGs nowadays.

This game reflects the essence of 5e DnD without the trouble of needing to have people to play DnD with in the first place. The game rewards exploration and experimentation, and it is literally impossible to experience everything in a single playthrough. Larian are also not afraid to kill off important NPCs that are integral to the main story, as such, one playthrough can differ greatly from another. You can incorporate the environment during combat such as shooting down a chandelier to deal damage or using water to reveal invisible creatures, the tools provided are near limitless when it comes to problem-solving.

One year later, Larian are still releasing patches, be it bug fixes, new cutscenes, or a mod manager thats integrated into game allowing for even console players to have mods. It is no wonder Larian won the 2023 GOTY award and many others because they wholeheartedly deserve it. It truly is a game unlike any other. Don't buy this game on sale... buy it full price.
