Atmospheric, yet lacks gameplay.
If you enjoy creeps much more that gameplay itself (like, if you enjoy story more than gameplay) you're not gonna regret this - the game does it well. Art style, dark forest, big abandoned house with lots of old furniture and paranoic lodger, speaking unknown language works wonderful for horror. Cartoon style also fits and I think makes Knock-Knock catchy and recognizable game. Developers indeed hit the top ten with that.

The game will present you with not so much variability as you might see and despite that, it's no easy to understand how to play it. Perhaps that's what's gonna scare away regular player. It's also can be frustrating because it can be monotonous and repetitive because there's no so much options - fix lights, hide, waiting for the sunrise and again. Many other games gave you a lot of other things. For example, Amnesia (witch incredibly relies on atmosphere too) - puzzles, for example, makes the second option besides lighting your way and hiding from monsters.
In my opinion, this game is a masterpiece for those who will not hesitate to explore, adapt to unusual rules, seek lore, etc.

I wish Kickstarter to gain more money because it nearly had to develop the main features of the game. It gain 40K $ which passed the first goal to develop the game.

Anyway, I do hope you will enjoy playing Knock-Knock: in silence and darkness.
