-Base gameplay loop is very dull as one side and relies on PvP for content
-If you like killer, hope you enjoy playing alone: it's not co-op anymore
-Maps are poorly balanced for some killers
-Lots of DLC crossovers

+Killer kits can be very skill based, and are fun to execute well

Overall, I feel this is a great idea, but the executions is not for me.
I like my PvP fair and my Horror unfair, this does not reliably provide either.

Short but sweet.
Reasonably lore-accurate while still being fun and succeeding in both giving you the power fantasy and not trivialising smaller enemies too much. Checkpoints are reasonably frequent, making death not too penalising or disruptive to the flow.

Huge time sink to get to 'Endgame' with a lot of mediocre side questing along the way to try to get the stones required to level. It's an enormous very boring, mostly solo time-investment to be still not quite at the level to do the content you're supposedly playing the game for.
RNG dependant upgrades.

This one delivers more than it promises. If you watch a video, see the movement, combat, bosses, and think: "Yeah, I'd enjoy that!" then you should get this.

Update: A significantly worse experience without QoL mods. I mean, it's got a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ dev cycle but... is there really a good competitor? Probably not. Should you join VR? Also probably not. Go outside and touch grass or something.

Enables some pretty wild experiences, and is a neat place to meet new friends.
Spend forever in VR instead of in real life, where you too can be an attractive whatever-you-want. Meet new people. Fall in love. Get dumped.

I love new world, but just... know what you're in for. I'd give it a mixed, if I could.

TL;DR: If you like the look and think you'll like it, you probably will. It's good... it's just also fundamentally broken. Due to this I'd recommend it for casual play only.
If you're looking to really invest yourself here, invest elsewhere and save yourself the heartbreak.

Half of the server duped. They didn't get effectively banned- just the alts that it was done on. Amazon bragged about their response. Scumbags bragged about their money. Basically no contact tracing. I'm less than impressed. Less than a week later, it happened again. and again.
Do you know how the first dupe (fixed, so I don't mind sharing) worked? You literally traded and pressed alt-f4. That's it. That says all that needs to be said about the experience of the devs in preventing this.

Maybe it's a fluke? No. They had skills that make you temporarily invulnerable. If you grabbed your window and dragged, you stayed invulnerable... including on say, a control point in an endgame war. This was also fixed... but it keeps going. There are so many of these kind of things.
Well of course there are bugs but it's pretty and well optimised, right? No sir. They keep changing one thing, one new aoe type, one difference in stacking... and everything involving more than X number of people is broken. Keeps happening.

Ok, you just want to solo, not war, and don't care about what other people have. Outpost rush keeps having bugs. New weapon meant people were occasionally perma-rooted until verifying game files. It was disabled for the first few weeks because people were falling through the world.

Latest balance patch buffed the strongest big group/war pvp weapon (a lot). All patches were done with a sledgehammer- doubling this, halving that, changing the entire healing output dramatically (which was needed but... this was so heavy handed it's... not cool.) No free respec, no assist for those who used healing as primary.
Crafting was uprooted and xp for it was re-done... and you wouldn't know in advance, unless you were watching the PTR. It's harder now, which benefits older players a decent bit. Again just... stuff that should have been eased into / announced in game.
