Early Access Review
EDIT: It's been a few years. Since then, it's only gotten worse. To put it bluntly - the game has a massive predator platform, the team harbors and protects moderators (who have power over minors) who express and act upon attraction to children inside the game, has let go 30% of its team to focus on the wrong thing, and overall is not a team I can trust.

I have cried over this. Leaving this game leaves a hole in my heart, especially after almost 4,000 hours of use. I fell in love with social VR, and it would not be wrong for me to say it helped me through some tough times and that I met people and loved people I never would have without this game. I have integrated it as a part of who I am, and for a long time, I was proud of that.

But I can't look at it or even launch it without feeling guilt or pain for what the platform is and what the developers stand for. I cannot do this anymore. This is a platform I have to leave, even if there's no alternatives. I don't know what to do from here.

Please don't support this game. Children deserve to be safe online, and this team does not want that.

VRChat has been an okay platform with a great third party community and a tone deaf developer team for ages. There are many missing or broken features, a lot of instability, and overall questionable quality of life and especially a11y (accessibility) concerns.

Recently, they have announced they will be adding EasyAntiCheat to the game. This punishes creative or necessary community work and patches to make up for the deficiencies of the dev team, or to add functionality that VRChat Team just doesn't want to add that the community does.

This also incentivizes malicious behavior, as although benign mod creators will not risk the consequences of bypassing EAC, malicious crashers and others who mess with other's games will not care about them and still continue to do what they've been doing for ages.

What VRChat needs to do is implement the QoL, safety, and security features and patches that the community has been developing for years, take legal action against malicious actors, and not implement EAC. They also need to pay attention to the a11y community, which has been making large outcries about the inaccessibility of this game for ages.

I think VRChat Team underestimates just how much people have relied on the goodwill to not organize a mass exodus to another platform, and have gotten presumptuous and arrogant in their domination of the market. Until they do something else, I cannot recommend a new player get into VRChat.

Try ChilloutVR, Neos, or cluster instead. Cancel your VRC+, boycott the game, and try to find a new home with your friends. Let's do this.
