It's way way past time someone did something about it.

Unfortunately while Ascend looked to be a reprieve, Smi-Rez abandoned it without even a apology. Cheating became rampant, expliots abounded, and the community dropped to almost nothing. There might have been ONE active server on a busy night. Then Smi-Rez suddenly 180'd and promised to rebuild Ascend with community input. What they actually did was apply a bunch of arbitrary changes to the game all at once, because their main developer, and probably the only guy who knew how to maintain the game, was leaving for greener pastures (can't say I blame the guy). Sorry Smi-Rez, too little too late. Not that you cared, you managed to squeeze a few more bucks out of a few hopeful suckers but ultimately it was the last gasp. So what right? You got my money and dropped my trust, not once but twice, like it was a bad disease... So... How about a freaking compass? I mean, seriously? As far as I'm concerned most of Smi-Rez are a bunch of greedy jerks that decided the effort needed to make Ascend a good successor of T2 just wasn't worth it.

I still fervently hope they sell the IP to a deserving group but by now I get the sense they'll ride the dead horse down unto the bitter end.
