As per my thread I made when this game wasn't available yet, here's why you should buy rune factory 4 if you haven't played and are on the fence.

Do you like tons of stats to raise? Do you like growing crops? What about giant crops? what about Crop DUNGEONS? What about turning those crops into food? Into weapons?

What about taming monsters? How about riding and fighting them? What about bosses? What about riding boss monsters?

How about A marriage? A harem? Children? Fighting with the child of the person you married and had a kid with?

I bet you care about equipment that actually changes the visuals of your character?* Multiple outfits for your char to wear?

Want to fish? Want customizable rooms for your house? House expansions?

Or maybe you feel like your character is getting a bit boring and would like to turn into any other major character in the game** complete with voice acting for their attacks etc

Level 100 isn't enough for you grind addicts? Try 50k. That's 5 with 4 zeroes next to it. 50,000.

But wait, I hear you say. That must take forever! Ah, my friend. You can discover, loot, or create medicine to raise your stats, levels, you name it. You can even make potions to fall in love if saying hello to your potential lover once a day is just such a tedious chore.. I hear you, friend.. And so did the developers.

You like weapons? How about Swords. Maybe spears? Axes, hammers, fists, 7 elements? All with different attack styles and special moves for them.

Spells? You got it. Stats? Oh yeah. Sleeping, foraging, running, crop management..Just about everything you do, y o u r p o w e r o n l y g r o w s. Too weak? Just sleep for a year of in-game time and wake up ready to kick more ass than some sort of automatic ass-kicking machine.

Minigames? Yep. Difficulty levels? Yessir. Want your own shop? Want to rip off people by making a hideous dinner amalgamate of grass, sticks and poison? Why yes it's all here and i must say, that looks delicious, I'll take three!

They even have fan art from events, you can re-view old events, there's trophies and achievements too. Biggest fish you've caught? It's right here. Smallest fish, you didn't ask? Well we have that here too.

Want to bring people from town to perilous dungeons, decked out in your creations to fight be mangled by the terrible giant roosters while you loot their stuff? Hello Grandma, It's time to grab your swinging cane and start a swingin'!

And when you're done, you can go into their shop after hours and for your dire overwhelming need for fertilizer at 1AM, dismiss them, and then go shopping because it's your town, not theirs. Hey, I know you're enjoying lunch but lets go on an adventure to the shop! ha ha thanks bye.

How do you get all this and much, much more?

Rune factory 4: The best damn game period. Buy today.

**sadly you can't become ventuswill

@Kato On the main page, there's a little box that says what audio languages are supported; It seems that indeed yes, it does come with a Japanese dub! :hee:

Just wanted to let you know that this review was singlehandedly the deciding factor, after being on the fence for buying this game. Absolute chef's kiss

This is probably as close as you can come to describing what this game is. It's the biggest mash up of genres, different systems and mechanics I've ever seen. Moreover, every single one of those things has a decent level of depth to it, often more than can be found in other games that specifically focus on one or two of them only, And if that wasn't enough everything synergizes with at least a few other systems, making every activity feel very rewarding.

But, most importantly, it all somehow works. We've seen games that tried to blend genres and systems like this. Most of them simply fail, few of them pull it off but still have problems marrying everything together. RF 4 somehow makes it all work perfectly, creating one, coherent experience where nothing feels out of place. Calling such a feat a masterpiece isn't far off.
