This game is tough to review as it's flawed but it has very strong elements that later TES games lack. So instead of your typical review I'll just say the basic important things.

I'll start with the bads.

The game has a slow start. You will have to level your way through till things speed up. You have to get a good base amount of gold and you need to be strong enough to fight basic enemies.
The game is buggy. Installing Patch For Purists and using the Morrowind Code Patch helps.
The game uses abstract elements like dice rolls for its gameplay and combat. This is a big problem for some.
The player movement speed isn't as high as it is in later games. Albeit the map scale might also have something to do with that.
Visuals are dated but can be fixed somewhat with MGEXE which introduces distant land, real time shadows, HDR etc.
Magic system is severely unbalanced and certain effects are broken. It is possible to make your character get actual god mode via spell effects. This can be avoided if you don't abuse spells, alchemy and enchanting together but it's an issue.

Now the pluses.

Overall incredibly interesting world to explore. Much higher detail in the world due to a higher scale. Bigger settlements. Every NPC has its own home. Cities have unique themes according to their geographical, political and economical situation (yes the game goes out of its way to describe all of those).
The abstract systems in Morrowind allow for a huge amount of customization and builds thus you have high replayability. I have many hours of this on steam but I have about 1000 out of steam too. This game just allows for that many playthroughs.
Superior faction system. The faction system is set out to have multiple paths, choices, quests. Not only that but factions interact with one-another and one faction may not like you joining another. This also means that you can NOT join every single faction in 1 playthrough as some quests require you to kill members of other factions. This renders joining that faction impossible.
More interesting quests. The game tends to have more creative quests at times despite its huge engine limitations. You're likely to also find strange quests like the many naked nords who had their family heirloom and clothes stolen by a witch. Quests may lead to strange places such as the strip club in Suran (yes there's a strip club).
The main quest is genuinely engaging and interesting. It doesn't rush you and demands that you soak in the atmosphere of the game and do side quests to understand the lore.
Huge armor and weapon variety. This game has many weapon types. Armor is divided into Medium, Light and Heavy. Not only that but there are individual pieces for gauntlets and pauldrons. Even many articles of clothing with their own qualities.
Superior magic system. This one is very easy. Morrowind's magic system is very in-depth and allows for a lot of variety. I recommend trying out different combinations and just a lot of the spell effects. There are many many spells to pick from and they all do very interesting things without being overly generic like in Skyrim.

These are only some of the aspects of the game. If you can deal with the cons, play this game. If not, avoid it like the plague. For me personally, after I pass the slow hours into the game I get sucked in and eventually put out at least 200 hours into it.

As a final note. This game has a huge modding community. It continues to make mods even today and you have a lot to choose from. The mods can change a variety of things and add a variety of content that is all within reason and is all incredibly entertaining and very recommended to try out later on. Just be warned that modding this can be a pain in the butt.

Have fun, sera!

Thank you! Added 1 more con to the review and also fixed a few very dumb typos of mine.

Can I just say that I really like this review. Most reviews of Morrowind are overly positive and people have nostalgia goggles superglued to their face or will be the opposite and be screaming children whining that "is 2 herd and boring"
This is a truly wonderful review, serjo.
