Early Access Review
Even in early access, the game has more content than Hades 1 right now. Its pretty much just the story and a couple areas that arent finished yet. Definitely recommend

Like half of the people here, I wish there was a mixed option. Everything the base game did, both right and wrong, are amplified in this dlc. The world is more beautiful, the exploration is more amazing, the weapons are more fun, and the bosses are even worse. That being said, you will love this if you loved Elden Ring.

Designing the bosses around spirit ash summons remains the most cataclysmic mistake Fromsoft has made for this game. Fighting them has definitely been the worst experience I have ever had in a Fromsoft title, and I am extremely disappointed that after all these years of creating amazing and fun bosses, we ended up with this. They are even more aggressive than before, deal even more damage than before, have even more delayed attacks than before, and have even less openings than before. Solo play is so frustrating that it almost feels mandatory to use spirit ashes, which will usually result in the fight being trivialized. Persevering through a fight doesnt give me that satisfying feeling it usually did, it just leaves me with a bittersweet feeling and an apathetic attitude. I dont feel like I learned anything, I dont feel like I got better. I just feel like I got lucky they didnt use their nuke attack or infinite combo too much.

I really dont want to hate Elden Ring, I think its still the best $100 ive spent in quite a while. But its so hard to recommend this game or this dlc to anyone like I could with the other Souls games. The bosses are a huge part of these games and it was just botched here.

This might be one of the best battle royale games on the market right now, so why the negative review? Well, I genuinely cannot think of a worse game for a new player to jump into. The game has been out for 5 years, and the skill ceiling has shot into space. It is way too hard to learn how to play the game, since it is not only a difficult game to do well in, but the matchmaking also sucks and you're going to get dominated by an extremely sweaty player nearly every match.

I would consider myself to be a slightly above average player. Ive played the game since launch with a few long breaks here and there. I love the game, but it is an absolutely MISERABLE experience without friends. One good match is just not worth the torrent of bad matches ended by the same top 1,000 players using the same legends with the same guns with the same insane movement. It is completely impossible to enjoy this game casually.

All that aside, the game has abysmal monetization (20$-200$ skins), 20hz servers (the standard is 60), overpowered aim assist on controllers, a cheater infestation, and a slew of bugs every update. So if you're the type of guy who wants to play games to relax, stay as far away as possible from this game.

Edit: Lol. Lmao, even

I shouldnt have to say why I dont recommend this. Its CoD, where creativity and passion go to die. Every new game is the exact same as the last. Good gunplay overshadowed by a cascade of bugs and unacceptable monetization. Avoid like the plague

Every other review has already mentioned the obvious by now. The game is very fun, but is brought down by poor matchmaking due to a small playerbase, the extremely aggressive penalty system, and the gacha mechanics. I dont really see many people talk about the rated (ranked mode) system though, and I find it pretty baffling.

It works like most ranked systems, you gain points if you win, lose points if you lose. With a small bonus if you beat your rival. The problem is this game does not properly reward you for performing well at all. You can be first place in every match, but if your team loses? You're losing 10 points, no matter what. Placing above your rival will at most reward 3 points, and thats if your basically-selected-at-random rival isnt actually good at the game. Thats not even mentioning that you dont even see who your rival is until the match is over.

Due to the longer TTK, teamwork is far more important than in other games. Because you cant just land a couple good headshots and put yourself and your team in a good position. 2v1s are practically unwinnable if your opponent's collective IQ is higher than room temperature due to the stun oriented gameplay loop. This wouldnt be so bad if the developers didnt disable the ability to play with friends in rated matches. This means, especially at higher ranks, you are at the complete mercy of the matchmaking system. Every match is basically a dice roll whether you get put on the winning team or not. Again, you can place first in every match, but one or two bad teammates means you lose points and theres NOTHING you can do about it. On the other hand, you can be last in every match you play, and gain points because your team won. Its completely backwards.

All this adds up to one of the most frustrating ranking systems ive experienced, and ive played Destiny 2, so you know thats bad.

Elden Ring is a rare example of a triple A game that lived up to the hype. The game released finished, with no microtransactions, and a massive world full of content. However, there are a couple things about the game that really disappointed me.

The bosses, for one, are some of the worst of any Fromsoftware game. There was only one boss out of the hundreds (most are just normal enemies as bosses) that I found to have pretty good design and was fun to fight. Almost every single boss in the game has delayed attacks, seemingly endless combos, and roll catches. It gets to the point where fighting a main boss is more of a chore than anything, and this would all be alright if it was clear when the delayed attack would land, or when a combo would end. It really feels like these bosses were designed for sekiro, not a more soulslike game. It really hurts, because the bosses were such a big part of the souls games, almost all of them were well designed, memorable, and fair fights. I struggle to think of a boss in this game that comes even close to great bosses like the artorias, gael, ludwig, orphan of kos, lady maria, ivory king, fume knight, and nameless king. This game in particular is home to what I think is the worst boss Fromsoftware has ever made, and their name starts with an M.

The other thing I have a problem with is the pvp, obviously, everyone hates the pvp. It is possibly the worst pvp Fromsoftware has ever made, and its not even close. For one, solo hosts cannot be invaded without using a certain item, which also removes the invasion cooldown. So you wont find many solo hosts, and mostly just ganks. This would be fine in a game like Dark souls 3, there you can get good enough at the pvp to deal with even 3v1s, and it was a very satisfying and fun thing to get good at. Here? No. There is no semblance of balance in the weapons and spells, theres plenty of stuff that 1-2 shots basically anyone. Every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ invasion consists of ganks spamming the weapon art for the Rivers of Blood weapon, Moonveil, Frenzied burst, Stars of Ruin, or Bloodhound step to avoid damage. Every host plays like they had a lobotomy yesterday, spamming the same thing over and over and over again, and in any other Fromsoftware game, that would be an easy punish. Yet they still get kills easily because of how broken these weapons are. Literally anyone can get easy kills, even somebody in a coma could. Ive never had a pvp make me more mad than this one, its seriously unbelievable the state the pvp launched in.

And yet, despite that, I still recommend the game to everyone. Its one of the best triple A games to come out in awhile, and it deserves your attention.

BPM is a rougelite shooter where you have to time your actions, such as reloading, dashing, and shooting to the beat of the music. It has all the rougelite stuff you would expect, move around areas to find loot to make yourself stronger to eventually die or kill the final boss, but the rhythm mechanic does a very good job at making what would otherwise be a fairly mediocre shooter unique. It starts off hard, when you dont know what you're doing of course, but its one of those games where you can very consistently win runs when you know what you're doing.

I was planning on getting every achievement in the game, but I was met with the only problem I have with the game. There are a bunch of other valkyries you can choose at the start of the game that have small differences, one may start with a different weapon and health pool, one may have their health pool be your money. You have to beat the game on hard with every valkyrie for all achievements, and by far the worst ones in the game are Odr and Sanngrior.

Odr and Sanngrior dont have health, they both die in one hit, which turns a game that is fairly easy once you know what you're doing into a stressful, tedious, and often times ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ experience. I dont know if I would have as much of a problem with them if the items were adjusted to fit that type of run. Items relating to health can and will still spawn which are useless, even shrines of damocles and barrier chest rooms can still spawn, which instantly kill you if you use them. You are practically required to have good luck in a run to get the extra life shield, because you will eventually crack due to the pressure and take a hit. It doesnt help that Sanngrior spawns with the worst weapon. I got to the final boss and died twice before giving up completely on the achievements, its not fun at all. Im locking comments in this review because I just know theres going to be some people who tell me to "git gud", and listen, I get you beat hard Sanngrior in under 15 minutes blindfolded with a severed corpus callosum, but I dont care. I know I could do it given enough time and tries, but its more stressful than it is fun.

So I recommend this game with a warning, stay as far as you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can from Odr

The gameplay is very fun, successful missions feel very gratifying, the narrarator and atmosphere are incredible, among a bunch of other things. Though what brings it down for me is the rng factor. You will hear people say that everyone overexaggerates the rng of the game, and that you just need some knowledge and skill. I highly disagree, this game is 50/50 skill and luck. A hero can die on their first deaths door check, you can go the entire game without seeing a virtue, an enemy can repeatedly crit your group, a group of enemies can spontaneously target a single hero, your attacks can miss, your status effects can be resisted, you can get hunger checked over and over again, the game can spawn more blockades than you should usually prepare for, your attacks can miss, you can have a character keep accumulating stress and damage from traps because you didnt get any scouts, your party can shuffle at an enemy encounter with max torch, your attacks can miss, etc, etc, etc. EVERYTHING in the game has an rng factor, you can use trinkets to lower that factor a bit (if you find them), but it will always be there. Its clear the developers intended for deaths to be a big part of the game, and its hard for me to say if that was the right move? Losing somebody is frustrating no matter what, and it can and will lead to quit moments. For me, the game has become more stressful than fun, so whats the point of playing?

If you can handle these rng factors, I very much recommend the game, but losing heroes is incredibly frustrating, and it will happen. Its extremely hard to play through this game without feeling like it was a massive waste of time.
