Sadly this is more of a techdemo build around single idea than a game.
Don't expect much from it, this game is not like "Portal", not like "The Talos Principle", not even like "Stanley Parable".
There is around 2-3 hours of content and puzzles are super easy. I'm still recommend to buy it, but at deep deep sale.

Finally decided to buy it on sale. You know what this game is.
It is a niche building\exploration game with many features. Can't say it is flawless, but in my opinion, a game of that scale that offers so many features now simply can't be flawless.
After so many updates and more of them coming it is worth the money for me.
I play it on GNU\Linux and it works with Proton out-of-the-box without any tinkering.

An immersive and thrilling experience. I was very amazed how this game gets a hold of you for many hours and doesn't gets boring.
I recommend to play it on Survival blind, without any guides, wiki, etc.

The only downside there is no native GNU\Linux port, but Valve Proton makes it quite playable with a few minor issues.

What an amazing game!
Game design is close to flawless in every aspect of it.
Hollow Knight offers huge, unique and detailed world. Around 60-80 hours for a single, completionist-style playthrough. The story is captivating and has multiple endings, depending how much effort you put into the game.

Characters you meet and fight along your journey are intresting and unique.

Graphics and art-style looks fantastic, detailed enough and beautiful.

Soundtrack for Hollow Knight is very good and fits the game and it's events perfectly.
There is no voice acting in the game, but "made up language" voices of characters are not anoying or cringe-inducing, like they were in game Magicka, for an example.

From technical perspective Hollow Knight performs alright, without any issues.
Controls are snappy, responsive and well thought out.
Linux port also flawless and works great.

The only downside is all other games in same genre now have to compete in terms of quality, longevity and pricing with Hollow Knight, and as I can see not many of them will have a chance.

Must buy for any one looking for a great game in metroidvania genre.

Fantastic game in rogue-like-lite genre. Very enjoyable to play. Definitelly worth a buy.

About the good.
This game may look simplistic on screenshots, but don't let them fool you.
Once you go deep into the dungeons, immersion and imagination kicks in and you begin to see past those pixels, subconsciously transforming them into real objects, chambers with decorated walls and furniture and fearsome creatures.
If you have that Ultima: Underworld itch this game will scratch it. :)

Every playthrough is unique and every level of the dungeon is randomized each time.
One playthrough is around 1-2 hours long, depending on how cautious you will play, but you can save and quit the game at any point and continue your run from the same spot later.

Game requires you to manage inventory items, such as potions and food, weapons, armor and ammo.
Weapons and armor have durability and could degrade to become less effective.
There are permanent upgrades available to extend your inventory space which could be bought at some point during playthrough.

Delver has some cool game mechanics. If your weapon become broken you can still fight with it, dealing minor damage, but you can also pick up a skull or a plate and throw it at your attacker and kill him with it!

Each run requires you not only reach the final destination, destroy boss and grab The Orb, but also escape with it the way you came and man that is intense!

Level editor for Delver is included for those who want to try to mod the game with direct Steam Workshop support.

Now about the bad.
Game is just left Early Access and there are some issues with the game at this moment (check the Steam forums), but developers working hard toward fixing them all.
They also will eventually add more stuff to the game and do some rebalancing. (Roadmap is also available on Steam forums)

I play Delver on GNU\Linux Debian 9 'stretch' and port is very good, no crashes or any major game breaking issues. The only issue is the game temporary freezes for 2-5 seconds in one particular level (Ruins). This happens sporadically and I hope developers will fix that.

I also want to see more interesting things implemented in the game to spice it up, like
* random rare NPC encounters
* mini-bosses and champions (more strong type of normal monster)
* various character classes and races and separate achievements for them.
* usable altars and fountains\springs that modify your playthrough
* cursed items
* more magic spells and effects like polymorph, remove curse, poison blade, electric nova.
* more ranged weapons like crossbows, slings, throwing knives (throwing weapons are already planned by devs)
I'm sure some of this will eventually made into the game by Delver modding community.

This game is broken on Linux (I run it on GNU\Linux Debian 9 'stretch' x86_64). It doesn't start now, but was playable in the past.
Game developer (Spiders) seems to be defunct and game publisher (Focus Interactive) doesn't respond to direct support requests over e-mail.
Game is abandon-ware with no support. Do not buy.

I gave it a try on Free Weekend. It's unplayable on GNU\Linux.
Crashed in the very first minute of offline shooting range practice. On the second run I've played shooting range for a 30 minutes and it crashed again.
I can play Dying Light, Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Island for hours on max settings without any issues. I have many other games that play on Linux just fine too.
I have good PC, way above recommended specs for DoI.
CPU i5-6600
RAM 16Gb DDR4
VGA nVidia GTX1060 6Gb
GNU\Linux Debian 9 'stretch' + Xfce DE

Will keep an eye on it for stability improvement and patches for Linux port, but I've got an impression developers don't care. :/

Marvellous game. Really liked the story and gameplay, even though it could be frustrating at some points. In those cases I recommend to take a break. I think this game didn't meant to be played from start to finish in one sitting. It is about 10 hours long of relaxed gameplay, depending on how fast you'll figure out various puzzles.
If you liked to play Flashback (1992) and crave some more games like it, then this game will be perfect for you.

I've played it on GNU\Linux from start to finish and the Linux port is good.

Game is very short about 4 hours and 3 hours from that you spend in the same area, fighting with clunky controls and trying to figure out uninteresting and illogical puzzles.
It feels like this game can't decide what genre it wants to be quest or adventure. I've expected it to be longer, to have more interesting story and be more polished.
Spend your money elsewhere.
