So far, so good! The bots seem to have been dealt with for now and aren't making their way back. If this keeps up, and we don't have a new wave in a few months, my recommendation will remain yes :)

I bought this on release, back before it was free to play - so I have had a lot of time to think about this review. This is the last bastion of non-hyper-competitive shooters around, where you can just hang out and goof around and have a tremendous time.

But the bot crisis has reached breaking point, the game is absolutely unplayable in this state. Private servers are all that's left, and there aren't many of those. The game is dead, and Valve have ignored it until it withered away. If they fix the bot problem, I'll remove this review and replace it but it's such a shame to join games and hear bots on the comms spouting bigotry, instantly dying as you walk out of spawn, and unable to vote-kick because the bots coordinate to reject it.

Fix the game, for the love of god. I know it's old as hell but it's special and still beloved today.
