When I was younger I could remember anything, whether it had happened or not.

In short, this is where Stranger Things meets Life is Strange.

An eccentric mix of history, sci-fi and adventure. Oxenfree makes use of somber art and visual glitches to tell a never ending ghost story – which develops from our own choices –, and it truly excels at it. Its impeccable soundtrack successfully contributes to the feeling of tension and suspense, making the whole experience much more immersive.

The game distances itself from linearity and uses a concept of interactivity where it is practically possible to see yourself among the teens. This, when combined with the unpredictability of events, becomes truly hypnotic. Even replaying the game can be enjoyable due to how seamlessly the ending of a playthrough blends into the beginning of another.

Oxenfree is astonishingly good. It’s one of the best supernatural stories I have ever seen and, without a doubt, one of my favorite games. Totally recommended.
