Early Access Review
I rarely, if ever, play online games. This quarantine has made me search for new ways to hang out with my friends and thankfully we decided to try out Deep Rock Galactic. In essence, you have to team up with one to three other players (or you can go alone, but I definitely wouldn't recommend it), choose one out of four classes and then complete different kinds of missions in a massive hostile planet that your mining company has decided to exploit.

The first hours give you an assignment comprised of various missions that act as a tutorial and slowly introduce new biomes and mission types to you. Then you're free to do whatever you please, the combinations of tasks you have to perform, biomes and different modifiers still give no signs of becoming boring for us 70 hours in. There are always things to find, beers to craft (with amusing effects or bonuses for your next mission), ridiculous cosmetic items to customize your dwarves with (to purchase strictly with in-game currencies) and mods to improve your weapons and equipment.

The four classes are extremely distinct and they're all fun. They complement each other INSANELY well, and this is where the teamwork aspect really kicks in because you have to work together with your friends and explore the caves in an organized and efficient manner to survive and maximize profits (especially on higher Hazard levels, which become particularly deadly in terms of types and numbers of enemies you will face). As such, I think this game really shines while playing with friends you know and while fully utilizing the in-game voice chat (or other voice chats of your preference). The satisfaction is immense, the amusing moments seem endless. We're heading for our first promotion (which can be done by reaching the level cap of 25 with a class), which will unlock plenty more endgame content.

Technically, the game has a distinct and charming arstyle which is very well done. We especially love all the customization options you have and the biomes all look unique. There is also fantastic, funny voice acting and the atmosphere is effective, courtesy also of a discreet but immersive soundtrack.

We're still having fun after 70 hours and we will continue to do so for a long time. This game is really a masterpiece and we can't wait for version 1.0. There ARE a couples of annoyances and glitches but they're often a slight nuisance at best and will hopefully be corrected in the future.
