Incredibly faithful to the source material, not often to see this level of attention and detail in a remake being considered. Knowing the development hell this thing most likely went through, it's astonishing this game is such a competent and overachieving product.

There's not much to say, the original is regarded as one of the pioneers for Immersive Sims for a good reason. This game embodies that and understands that, and does it justice by bringing into the relevance of modern day.

Developers are either out of touch with the industry they're working in or Team17 is just full of idiots making decisions, because this game's downfall only has itself to blame.

I understand that the nature of these games, and games in general, are gonna have cheaters. It's inevitable, but it's also preventable. The genre of Extraction shooters has been around for a long time, and it's not like it's roots aren't traced back to things like DayZ and other survival PvPvE focused games. If the developers wanted to focus on the cheaters, they would've taken measures to make sure things are server-side logged, items aren't at all tied to client-side, and resources aren't just reliant on a anti-cheat software which, time and time again, has shown to have it's own set of vulnerabilities. As much as developers like to boast EAC, I think it's just an excuse for them to cover their asses at the end of the day, as your game is your responsibility, not the anti-cheat software. Some games take precautions using moderators, some games have a survey system that sends reports out to player volunteers who want to help identify cheating, I could continue listing ways developers have already made attempts to combat these issues, but it'd be a waste of time. Where this game REALLY fell off for me was the first update they pushed, the Red Baron update.

Not only were they suffering from their cheater issues, but unlike Tarkov at the time of the update, there was NO incentive to put up with the game's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, as player's had to experience a premature wipe when it suddenly dropped one day. A game with as much lackluster content like this should not be wiping for one update, especially when they're trying to do a pretty mediocre update right in between the Dark and Darker playtest and a Tarkov wipe. So, why would players feel incentivized to keep playing a game that doesn't have much more than 500 players daily, half of them most likely being bots and cheaters, with a very tight-lipped dev team (Who during this game's launch was VERY vocal about it's promises and ambitions, but I can't entirely fault them for that as I understand that things can get in the way of progress) and two other games with way higher player counts and content for their respective prices? Even if the atmosphere and setting are interesting on a surface level, they are not enough for me to recommend a 30 dollar price tag for a game that's not very populated with legitimate players to begin with.

Tarkov is obviously going through it's own set of issues, and as much as I despise that game, atleast in it's inception they had ideas that were appealing and had a take on the FPS genre that was unseen and for the most part fairly innovative. That card has unfortunately been played out, and as competitors such as Dark and Darker begin to take precedent, it makes you question why games like this are worth paying 30 dollars for when it's competition has more to offer.

I really enjoyed this game when I played it, was a very nice distraction from the chlamydia a nice big booby girl had given me for 3 weeks. Suffice it to say, I think I was a little too distracted by the fact I was essentially playing a stripped down Dishonored.

See, this game has a lot of potential in terms of it's concept, the core mechanics, the execution of the characters, the mysteriousness of the world setting, but it really fails to live up to any of the expectations that you would hope to see from a studio like Arkane (reminder, these guys made incredibly innovative games before Dishonored, Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah being huge examples of their talents being put to good use). Maybe the company has just changed because of the head French CEO man deciding to depart, but I would hope that the studio would keep it's ambitions high. DEATHLOOP seemed to be promising that when seeing the trailers and hearing the interviews they did for the game.

Lots of the gameplay can be broken down to dishonored abilities (such as blink, invisibility, mind-linking, throwing enemies, etc.) with the more comedic undertone in its writing and more emphasis on it's gunplay than stealth aspects. Some of these changes I was actually okay with, considering how punishing it always was to go so loud in the Dishonored games, I appreciate this game taking that approach to go the polar-opposite and give the people who like to be loud be the main audience.

I honestly think what holds the game back the most is the rehashing of old concepts in a game that revealed itself to be Arkane's next big IP and the next step forward for the company's ambitious innovation. However, I only took away this as a competent Dishonored spin-off that only really satisfied me due to the voice acting, some of the writing being edgy and quirky, and the feeling of running around loud and shooting people down. Unfortunately, a lot of what Arkane has previously done has really just been combined and applied to this in a very short and kind of cheap feeling way. I mean, literally almost all of the slabs (abilities) are just assets from Dishonored 2, given maybe one or two, and they aren't any more original than simple power buffs.

It's a generally fun game and it's worth the story if it's the kind of writing that appeals to you. I can see how it might put some people off, but Arkane has always had a soft spot in my heart for their games. I'm glad they made this game, I just wish they were more transparent about what it was going to be and maybe put some more time into fleshing out the ideas they were showcasing. They are present in the game, but they don't live up to the expectations you see in the trailers, and really just make me hope that the company has some direction now that most of the original team has either departed or been generally less involved in the game development.

It truly sucks that I'm making this a negative review, one because the game was a birthday gift from one of my dearest friends. but the other being that I REALLY wanted to like this game. I saw all the gorgeous set pieces and environments and I was just so drawn into it all. However, after 2 years of additional fixes and patches, having played this one 3 DIFFERENT PC builds in the time I've owned it, I just can NOT get into this game.

There's a lot of potential and strong aspects in the game, but it's very obvious that it's biggest detriment was making too many promises to begin with. Sure, I'm getting my super detailed world setting, and I'm seeing some of the innovation they were trying to do here - but it does not stand on it's own for a game that's still priced at a full blown 60 dollars. The gameplay is still pretty janky, albeit I did enjoy some of the beginning shootout segments, I didn't really feel like the combat had anymore depth than a game like say GTAV. When you promise users that this game is going to succeed RDR2, and become a staple in the industry for others to follow, I expected way more. If these promises and boast weren't there, I wouldn't be holding it against it, but the marketing for this game is the biggest thing that it ever really had going for it.

The story of this game I really couldn't tell you if it's good or not, but what I took away from it in my first 5 hours was that you have maybe one mission where there's that New Vegas-esque depth to the questlines. The rest of them seem like copycat missions where you go to a location, press E, go back to where the NPC houses at and get some lukewarm reward. This is what really killed it for me, and I had anticipated it being an issue the moment I got a call from Regina Jones. Her questline could have more depth but all I took away from the first two missions were loot jogs. That goes for a lot of these missions in general, where there is less player choice and more adaption from games like Fallout 4 where it's a quest-fetching system.

The writing reminded me of Marvel movies, and if you enjoy those, fine. I think they're garbage and I don't really have as much appreciation for them, however this point is entirely subjective and is to the taste of the user. I wouldn't call the writing outright bad because it has some really nice dialogue moments, and the voice actors do hold their own up very VERY well. In fact, I'd argue that right behind the graphics, the voice acting is the 2nd strongest aspect to the game.

I don't have the time to necessarily write out a 5000 word review about why the game is so mediocre but I'm trying to give the everyday player some perspective about what they're getting into. This game may be for you, but it's not for me, and I honestly think that if they had paced themselves in marketing this game better, lowered it's price to maybe 40 or 30 dollars, a lot of my complaints wouldn't really have surfaced and I would've just held my tongue back and appreciated it for what it was worth. But to this day, despite all the patches and fixes the developers have done, this game still fails to live up to the initial hype it had drove itself out with. It's another case of the game being broken fundamentally at it's core, it's not something they could patch into the game to fix a lot of my merits and issues with it. They would have to break the game down and rebuild it back up to truly deliver on the promises they had made.

This game carries so much potential, it is not a joke! While it has some bugs and flaws that can come off as amateurish, you can definitely tell the developers are trying to make this experience a real immersive and fun experience. There's a prototype dialogue tree (very barebones but again, the amount of potential here), different prayer mechanics, the way they showcased different uses for some of these prayers really helped my imagination for what kind of excitement a game like this could bring.

I honestly think there's just this huge stigma against Christian games because of how direct and malicious they can be based on their quality, which to be fair has always been low. Combining that with any connotations to real life religious values and you're obviously going to have some people feel shy'd away, however, this game is definitely pushing boundaries in the industry. Not even AAA studios are really trying to make games on a scale like this anymore, it's a very ambitious foundation they're presenting here. I say given em a shot, for the sake of video game innovation.

Wow, what a helluva project, Half Life 2 has had a really good year in the modding scene. This modification manages to take Half-Life 2 and push it into a whole new feeling of a game. I recall when I saw Half-Life: Alyx - The Final Hours, they had mentioned the difference from normal FPS to VR, with one having a player spend only a few minutes in a level whereas in VR they would spend hours in one level interacting with all the different objects. There is truly no better game to experience this feeling in than Half-Life 2 thanks to this mod. Absolutely astonishing work for such a small team.
