game is from 2003. it feels like its from 2003, the entire thing works fine though. combat is still better than PoP 2008 lmao

Played in 2024. everything worked well, controller works but you have to re-bind controls yourself everytime you launch for some reason. Overall no complaints for a 2$ game. 10/10

only weird thing, why is combat in this game worse than sands of time idk everything is a quicktime event or you just mash... kind of stupid

tries SO hard to be like dark souls. combat is the jankiest thing about this game. actually feels like garbage.
exploration and everything else was done fairly well.
I did enjoy the story, thought the story was good, finished game with the "good ending"
cant stress enough how garbage combat feels, so janky, tracking is terrible, and most the boss battles were designed like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
I CANNOT EMPHASISE ENOUGH how badly bosses were designed in this game. Especially the last boss, that ♥♥♥♥ was an actual meme. Id like to go back and replay the game to 100% the achievements however the terrible boss design and overall jank as hell feel to combat I think ill pass, beating the game once was good for me.
I would recommend picking this up on sale, i see they added the DLC's with the base game now which they should've done from the start as the DLC's are a scam, and beyond terrible for PAID DLC CONTENT.
otherwise just get the base game, its pretty good if you can look past how garbage combat feels.

new monsters are cool

Railgunner however feels pretty garbage, should've taken a different original character then reworking sniper for this
Void Fiend is absolute garbage, unless you play with command on 24/7 this character is actually useless.
I don't know who decides a character that is punished for having healing items. I ran about 15 times with no artifacts on, just on monsoon with pure rng. When I wasn't the void fiend, the game would feed me 4-5 void items before i even got to stage 5.
when you ARE void fiend, you don't see a void item for about 10 resets in 5 stages each. and the only regular chest spawns are HEALING ITEMS. and any red item you receive is also A HEALING ITEM.
im not sure if hopoo purposely designed it like this, because the character feels like trash, the skills feels like trash, his scaling feels like trash, and the overall mechanic for how he works feels like trash.
TLDR: you need to ONLY FIND void items, without taking healing items because it ruins your corruption gain, and the second you get to any meaningful difficulty spikes (without healing items) you die instantly because of lack of leech/passive heal. but PLOT TWIST. if you HAVE PASSIVE HEAL YOU CANNOT TURN INTO A VOID FIEND. LMAO
serious oversight, glad I got the DLC on sale cause... oh boy
if you're buying the DLC for the characters I wouldn't
