checkpoint dark souls style campfire system using an isometric camera around a character controlled action crafting exploration game

that's what it is that's it and it's pretty good thus far, a game like this makes getting lost the point, and it works

wish you could customize the character just a bit

See my post on the forum for more information, but this game is essentially Kovaak's rearranged with nearly no shame in how it does it. If you want Kovaak's except not Kovaak's, I guess this is a fine replacement. I use Brave because it's the only chromium browser not related to google in any way, allegedly.

https://gtm.you1.cn/app/1332220/discussions/0/4357790501750462092/

As of now I can't recommend this game, as even the EA outlook is poor. Kovaak's thrived from its community, not even in its own game improvements early on. The updates were few and far between, to be honest, even if he rolled out bugfixes and things quickly; actual game improvements were rare until the Meta.

To bring another aim trainer to an already crowded social bubble and expect it to attract anyone without it having any uniqueness whatsoever (even the name sounds plagiarized, honestly), especially the second time you have done this, is not okay.

I won't refund this (and can't I think it took me 4 hours to figure out if I was being fair/accurate), but if I hadn't decided to write this long post, I sure would have.

As someone who just wrote an extensive review after binging and enjoying Gal*Gun 2, I figured I would try this out. It is distinct from the VR dlc in the main game because... it is worse and costs more money. I bought this on sale at $8, far from its current listing price, and figured it would be interesting... at least. Instead, I refunded after one stage and inviting a few teachers home so I could stand awkwardly while they implied innuendos and such.

Instead, you have:

VR shooting is fine
there are no modes except score attack, and no campaign, as many have reported
the score attack stages essentially work the same.
the sweeper seems even more annoying to use than usual.
The poor performance from having to do foveated rendering on the headset causes bad input lag, and this is a game that may be casual, but is also very twitchy if you try hard enough. I don't see why I wouldn't go play the million other shooter VR games, or better yet, VR hen ties, since that just skips the shooter step right then and there.

Infuriating things:
They bound the 'pull out phone/slow time' which allows you to take upskirt photos and just about nothing else. It is neat they had you swipe through your photos, but what brings me to the INFURIATING part is that SOMEONE thought it was a GOOD IDEA TO BIND IT TO RIGHT GRIP

YOU KNOW THE GRIP YOU ARE AIMING WITH

Yes it was trivial to fix (just disable right grip in the controller settings of SteamVR), but holy moly, I have not been this confused over such a simple to get right game mechanic (there are TONS of unused buttons and they use RIGHT GRIP???)

I have RSI and the beginnings of arthritis. It is very hard for me to manage the amount of pressure I put on my controllers (this is why I prefer the Quest controllers, because I can feel the kinetic grip of the button, not just 'pressure'. But you can't mix and match, and the Index is far better), When you make a shooting game in VR, you have to understand everyone is going to be gripping their controller pretty tightly trying to AIM. That is NOT when I want the stupid phone with the broken time slow mechanic to show up so I can catch a flash of panties.

Yes I am very mad at this but I may have been less upset had the game had any real content or things to do beyond taking upskirt pics of the teachers, which I speedran, easily.

Apparently, the actual VR DLC for the game itself (GG2) is actually good, and the only problems people report are certain controllers not working correctly (not relevant to myself).

I would suggest, if you only read this line, to refund this and go buy the $1 less GG2 DLC if you already have GG2. If you don't, idk wtf you're looking at the VR version for at least go play that first

thanks

This is a game in the same genre as DOTA: Underlords and the LoL equivalent.

It is currently buggy and requires you to be always online to play. There are constant moments where it desyncs and eats your input (losing you an animal, losing you an item, losing you gold, etc). I am sure these things will be fixed in the future, but currently, they ruined the experience. This game lacks longevity, and a lot of people are playing it because of a popular streamer. It will go the way of Underlords and its ilk.

If you are a fan of this genre, you will like this game. If you are not, you shouldn't bother. There is nothing new to the table for this genre brought to this game except the perspective. It is cute, and free to play, but I can't personally recommend it because of the always online and my own dislike of this genre.

I do not like games where you can spiral into a loss with nothing you can do. It is unfun and very one-sided. Underlords and other games have this problem as well- once you start losing, you are pretty much screwed, and have to watch better teams roll over you until you can finally stop playing. Since it is RNG based, there is this illusion of no meta, but in reality, there will always be a strict meta and a 'best choices' in every scenario.

Although I am not recommending this game based on my own opinion of the genre, if you enjoy the genre, feel free to enjoy it, too.

Beat this in one sitting somehow and streamed half of it. Stopped streaming it when I realized what doki doki mode would lead into. Also got the route b ending which apparently only 8% of people got.

It is a fun casual shooter. It rewards precision. It rewards fast reaction times. There is not a lot of depth, and it is an on-rails shooter, so there is no movement, and you can only be in preset positions (that is, progressing by changing positions, but unable to 'move'). Normally, I would find this annoying, but this is an arcade style shooter. It is perfectly acceptable like this.

There is enough lewd content if you care for it. It feels somewhat like a toned down Koikatsu, even down to how the days are set up, and how you can contact and invite girls to go certain places. There are plenty of stages, though some are a bit annoying and even with the wasd angle controls (you can hit wasd to sort of lean sideways or up and down) it is sometimes a little awkward, but all rail shooters are.

There are a few different game modes, but the only one really worth mentioning is the actual shooting mode. The other ones (scavenger hunts, and defend) are both bad. They are boring and have nearly no difficulty, even in an already easy game. They feel like a waste of time, and are not fun. In particular, the scavenger hunt solutions were sometimes incredibly unintuitive and annoying.

The localization (because there are lots of lines that do not match what little Japanese I happen to understand) is good. They seem to have added more puns and more jokes than the original has. It is amusing, but only if you are into that anime-style "everyone is embarrassed about everything for no reason" trope.

There are some very uncomfortable scenes, as well. Given it is just a game, it's whatever, but especially one of the teacher characters, who is explicitly predating on students in the fetishist way, which is a little inappropriate, but on par for this theme. For what is a lighthearted game about shooting demons out of girls, there is a lot of sexual tension (clearly inspired by Illusion), some of which should probably not be in a game like this.

I am not talking about the normal interactions or doki doki mode; but the above spoiler is one that really made me ????. That's the sort of thing I would expect from an unabashed hentai game, not something like this, which is borderline hentai. That is a weird complaint to have though, considering the game is essentially filled with DEFINITELY 18+ women, and they all happen to be high schoolers who got held back several grades.

This is on par with anime. You should expect from this exactly what you think. If you are into this sort of thing, you will enjoy it. I skipped a lot of the cutscenes because they were boring. The introduction itself drags on and pretends to be a visual novel. There are side plots that are obvious and almost superfluous. The plot has too much work put into it for what is a silly, dumb game. I know there has to be a justification for this weirdness, but it could have been done more concisely, and they didn't need to take the ending so seriously. Or any of it seriously. Anytime it tried to be serious, I groaned.

It lacks control options. There is no sensitivity slider, only a zoom sensitivity slider. It lacks graphic options, but the graphics are simple enough, it runs fine.

I have not tried NG+ but it is available, and I assume it's just the same game again, but you keep your upgrades. There is a lack of postgame content, but I did get ten hours out of the main game. (With a note: You have 30 days to complete a certain objective. I completed the objective by the end of the 10th day, and could have skipped to the end at any time. I decided to play every ingame day).

Every ingame day you get to play two missions of your choice. If you replay a mission, it counts as part of the day. You can also call girls you have the numbers for (which you get by playing missions) and do some weird interactions, which, again, is reminiscent and almost identical to Koikatu, except you don't get to hold hands roughly in bed (you understand what I mean). It's only implied. I wouldn't want that in this game anyway; it doesn't suit it. Most of these extra features don't suit it. But they understand their audience, and it's completely reasonable to include it all.

It's very strange the non-shooting parts remind me so much of Koikatsu. It's like they wanted to make Koikatsu with shooting, but forgot that all those same features in Koikatsu are to lead up to the aforementioned hand holding.

For some fun shooting and dumb plot with anime writing, this is a good game. It lacks longevity past the main game, and there are no online leaderboards, which makes score attack superfluous. If there were online leaderboards, there would be extensive longevity for score hunters like me. I got over 800 hours in Kovaak's because I enjoyed leaderboard climbing, and it is very rewarding. To not be able to compete with anyone in a literal score attack mode is absolutely unacceptable.

I did not buy VR yet so I don't have an opinion on that.

Thanks.

The new dungeons update is amazing. I got bored of this game after some dozens of hours because all it felt like i could do was just spawn in some enemies and makebelieve some scenario in my head.

Now, it actually feels like I'm exploring a dungeon. The first time through was definitely the best. there are sections where you have to sneak, full on call to arms where you get waves of enemies in an open courtyard, caves and castles, and it all runs fantastically unlike some of the previous versions, even on just a 1070. This update tells me, within a couple years time, this will be THE VR combat sim, if it already wasn't already.

It feels like Dark Messiah of M&M in VR. I kick people off cliffs, too.

If you have VR and don't have this game I don't know wtf you are doing.

I fell down a pit while trying to do an indiana jones style grab a rope and jump to the other side, failed, and then had to climb up manually. It was annoying, but once I understood better how to grip, it felt like I was actually playing a video game. I was punished for failing a style moment by having to climb back up. I even had to throw my sword up there first since I didn't have space to use both my hands.

Also, I managed to kill someone by thrusting my short sword through their shield, leaving the shield on my sword, which I then used to kill another person.

This game is amazing and, as most have said, a must have. After this update, it is a mandatory purchase, rather than just a simulator.
And it will only get better.

Incredible game. If I had to sum it up in a few words, this game gave me the same feeling HL2 did when it first came out. Revolutionary physics for the platform. An almost sandbox-y feel with the environments, where you can break puzzles, or do them properly. You can explore as much as you'd like. Enemies aren't hard; but the way you encounter them can be. There are moments of adventure, thrill, fear, and confusion.

This game brought a lot of emotions out of me and when I went to the most out of the way place possible which took 10 minutes of careful climbing, I got an easter egg (not just a blank rooftop) and honestly teared up. Thank you dearly for this game. It made VR worthwhile.
