Skyrim sucks in many many ways. It's not even the best one in TES series imo.
This is true.

Said that, this is going to be long;

But let's be honest, it's one hell of a significant game among rpg generation and not many games achived what skyrim did and dare to apply on a fantasy game and i know that because i've been actively playing video games as long as i remember.

This being such a massive game, one could say too many things about Skyrim and it's absurd to think it hadn't been said before by someone else. Be it pro or amateur, every single game critique and a fan of the series has a say about this game (better or worse). But besides those theres this one aspect of the game that makes me happy, that skyrim happened to me.

As a single player avatar , i can experience what ever i want along the journey with this game ... if not even more as a gamer. a Sandbox Adventure Simulation.

I'm not just talking about "be what ever you want in the game" here, i'm talking about a whole experince and immersion. i'm talking about every single detail you would like it to be there. But does skyrim out of the package provides this? No. Then, how so?

1- The Lore : One of the richest fantasy lore in the gaming industry. Research and and enjoy the moment game provided you

2- Construction Kit : is incredibly fun and easy to mess arround. Add/remove/modify WHATEVER you want in the game and share. CK turns this massive game into a sandbox adventure. Your're even capable of creating even a whole another new game with CK depending on your skills, time, knowledge, creativity, desires. But of course, creating something new is like a puzzle to be solved.

3- Role Playing : is essential. This may not be how you meant to play the story but that doesn't frigin matters. Your avatar is your avatar and you are the prisoner of your own creativity. Don't just look at the virtual numbers and points as you progress. Just do what ever makes sense to your role and feel immersive. You can even enrich your gameplay and immersion with your microphone, 3d visuals, VR googles, Kinect gear, wii sticks, and all the the things that technology brought at your feet.

4- Modding : F**K YEAH MODS! Mix and match. There is a mod for all of your needs. They are meant for gamers by gamers and there will be more and more mods for your never ending quest. Thanks to ever groving TES community.

5- Skyrim/TES Community : Be it; nexus, steam, 4chan, dragonporn, imperiallibrary, morroblivion, andoran, wikia, modders, programmers, testers, developers, designers, resouce providers, editors, moderators, rewievers, gamers, haters, supporters etc.etc. all with the slightest ability to improve this game (for better or worse) i am gratefull to each and every one of them. I bow to their masterpieces. Without them, i simply wouldn't be playing this game right now. And so as those people too i think. This is how important the community is.

Surely these all are not something that you play and forget in a couple of hours just like any othe generic video game. More over, it's often filled with frustration and dissapointment and limitations of your hardware (i hate you ati) but the achivements never comes easy.

Now, One might say "does it worth all the troubles?"
Well, I say "what experience do you want it to be?"

TLDR - I've understood how to enjoy this game for myself. Worths every penny i've paid. It wasn't easy but now the game is how i want it to be and groving even more.
