I am not a dark souls player but doing this with my friend has made memories I will hold onto for the rest of my life. If you and 1 or more get the game and love a little masochism then the game rocks.

It's another ratchet and clank game except on PC (yaay) so if you aver played on the playstation you know what to expect.

If the game does not have acceptable performance in the first 40 minutes of gameplay, the entire thing is going to run poorly. In other words, if you can't tweak the game to run nicely by the time the title card comes up, it is going to run poorly the entire time. I have a 5600x and a RTX 3060 Ti with 8gb vram and it was around 30 fps in intense areas. In extreme cases it went down to 20 (such as on Torren IV looking into the entire junk city). Someone else with a similar setup was sitting at 60 most the time. So your mileage will vary. Oh also I originally tried playing this with a 1070 Ti and it failed miserably. In fact most modern games I have been playing can't seem to be handled by the 1070 Ti anymore. Just a heads up.

The story its self is good. Not a mind twister but it's fun and the humor is pretty slapstick. Buying and upgrading is fun, the combat was fairly satisfying, and the game looked great even on Low settings which I had to use. 60 dollars for 13+ hours I think is pretty alright. I didn't even bother to do collectathon gameplay, just the story plus a couple side quests.

Early Access Review
I typically hate roguelikes and I especially hate zombie games that punish you for using guns. However, due to the great modding support and the ability to change the settings however you like, it enables you to basically customize the game to your liking. A friend finally pulled me in and damn am I addicted. There are also mods to reduce the roguelike nature of the game, so it really is a modding paradise which you can take advantage of to totally tailor the game.

I hate card games and I dislike weird janky combat systems in general. Having played games like Super Mario Origami King I feel burnt by godawful combat mechanics. When I got told that lost in random is some weird card game I instantly was turned off. The story in the trailer, however, pulled me back in.

And I am glad it did because I ended up enjoying the combat so much I cranked the difficulty up. It was still somewhat simple as long as you use and abuse dodge but still made me sweat a little. In a nutshell you shoot little crystals off enemies which powers the dice. Once the dice bar is full a card is drawn which then costs energy. Energy is gained by rolling the dice. Anywhere from 1 to 6 energy as per the dice faces. You can then use this to summon weapons (bow, spear, or sword), summon hazards (bombs, enemy defense decrease, poison DoT buff) and lastly you are given 'cheat' cards which do things like cost no energy to play but give you 1-2 energy back once played for your current hand.

It was all pretty fun, you end up chaining these together. My favorite was stop time, defense down AND spawning 3 bombs. I managed to instakill the final boss doing this by stacking poison ontop of all that lol so there is a LOT of room to maximize your loadout.

Enemy variety is good enough but stays the same throughout the game. At various points they introduce side mechanics. Sometimes, instead of just killing all the enemies, you have to roll the dice to move a board game piece around the map. Somehow, it all manages to stay fresh and fun AND challenging.

The story is great, I won't spoil it but I will say it's basically a tim burton love letter (as you would expect). The story doesn't sugar coat anything, people die and the land is attempting to recover in the wake of a war that killed untold amounts of people as well as changed the face of the land in ways that pretty much nobody likes.

You will piece together the first twist somewhat early on but they did save a small (or big, depending on you) twist for the very very end. However there is no epilogue which I think was a shot in the foot because they spent all this time creating such a beautiful living world and I don't even know what happens to it after the story.

The atmosphere is insane. I found myself sucked in and just enjoying the characters and writing. But I can imagine if the world is not interesting to you at first then it may never be. You definitely have to just enjoy the ride for what it is. And as far as modern games go this one does it pretty well. Few if none bugs, glitches, anything that might stop me. The mechanics were all fairly intuitive, combat took some learning for about 20 minutes but the real fun is the possibilities so certainly try stuff or you won't find anything you like (I didn't like it at first but found myself loving all the buffs and debuffs once I got them).

I got it on sale. Is it worth it not on sale? Maybe, depends on how much you like adventure games. If you just want to try something I say wait for sale. If you are looking for your next adventure game I think it's great.

A short fun adventure where a girl and her fake cat save their sister from a robot invasion. There are no twists, thats as much answers as you will really get, but I had a lot of fun just playing it. There are a lot of pointless cutscenes but if you just want a basic puzzle platformer adventure for the weekend I recommend it.
