I didn't really expect much from this game: I just wanted an open world Marvel game, playing as ANY of the Avengers. I got what I wanted and then some.

Zipping around as Spiderman feels natural. The move sets are varied enough that you can change up your swing style, as well as combat style. There are some prompts that are randomized (eg. dodging a blow sometimes makes Spiderman flip and shoot webs into the enemies eyes, other times, he just dodges normally).

Story-wise, it reminds me of classic Marvel. Don't expect any twists or mysteries; right from the get-go, you already know who the good guys are and who the bad guys are. In my opinion, there are WAY too many collectibles and side activities. You already know what to expect when you do them. They don't feel rewarding to complete; they feel checklist-y.

The city itself is beautiful and it truly feels like New York. The problem is the citizens don't feel like they're living their lives. In the middle of the night, I could be swinging like 300m above them and I can see hundreds of people on the streets looking up and going 'whoa!'. How can you people see or hear me? It feels like the Truman Show where everyone just exists to serve your perception of the world. I get it, I'm Spiderman, are you people not desensitized to my presence yet? I've been swinging around for 8 years, dammit!

The experience is definitely worth full price. The performance of the game dips like crazy whenever I enter the interiors of buildings, but I believe my graphics card to be the culprit (RX470).

It's a great game, and should not be ignored if you like superhero games, open world titles, or Marvel in general. I give it an 8/10 - if they can solve the monotony between missions, it would get a solid 10. It's a great Spiderman game!
