A brilliant re-make of one of the greatest strategy games of all time. The game has two main parts, the base/resource management mode and a very intense turn-based combat mode. The latter of the two is what really makes this game shine.

You start the game with your base, and world view where you will manage your units, weapons, facilities and resources. You search the globe for the alien threat. This part of the game falls a bit short and can become a bit monotonous. XCOM truly shines when you locate some aliens and send your team out to clear the site.

The turn based combat is spot on, with a few minor tweaks to the original gameplay, although it still captures same the nail-biting intesity. Your soldiers start out pretty weak, but will level up and accquire more powerful weapons as they complete more missions. The game has 'permadeath' for your soldiers, so it really hurts when they are lost.

Can you rid the world of the aliens?

I give this a 97% on the Yeti scale.
