Finally picked this up on sale after initially being put off by the bad reviews.

Man do I regret not playing this sooner.

TL;DR: It feels like an oldschool action-RPG with some modern quality of life improvements with exceptionally satisfying combat.

That oldschool feel may be the reason for bad reviews, I think.
The game doesnt try to give you endless possibilities and a 50000 hour playtime.
I for one really like that for a change.

The devs also solely focused on one key aspect of the game. The exceptionally well done and very satisfying combat. But more on that later.

The story and voice acting is kinda meh.
The world is filled with plenty of the same old open world tropes, but nothing as bad as yet another Ubisoft game.
The world minibosses are worth a visit, though.

The combat in this game took me some time to get used to, but boy is it ever fun!
It just feels so incredibly good to chip away at the individual body-parts of a huge mob and then finally shatter it all to little bits and pieces.
It's not as in depth as a DMC or anything, not as unforgiving and laborious as a Soulslike.
But it doesn't lack depth, thanks to unique ideas and 1000 upgrade combinations.

Aditionally it looks pretty and the movement mechanics can be quite fun with some unlocks, too.
