Early Access Review
What a hot mess this is, even if you have exceeded the recommended requirements, you are going to have one hell of a time trying to optimize it. I know its early access but launching a game with such poor performance is absolutely wild. I am sure this game will get to a good point but I never got out of the compound because I kept stuttering and dropping frames. Complete waste of money right now, unless you have a godly pc.

Update:

I have everything set to low and the 3D scaling set to 45 and the game doesn't stutter for me anymore but the quality is terrible. I do have loads of fun playing though, minus the terrible performance issues, the content and extent of the game is actually really satisfying and fun. This WILL be updated to recommended once they decide to have a performance overhaul.

This game is worth it if you:
A. Have a boss PC setup or
B. Don't care about performance issues knowing full well the game is going to run poorly.

Update May 6:

Anything lower than the 4000 series needs to run the scaling mode at FSR...then the game will run somewhat better. I get very smooth gameplay in tight areas now but long open fields are still a bit of a hassle. I have updated this review to say recommended ONLY for players looking for that Early Access type. It is VERY buggy, however I can't stop playing it and it is in fact, really enjoyable solo. The community is actually really great, I have been sent messages about potential enemy factions in the area I was running in solo. There is a lot of great things, and a lot of needs improvement things (biggest being performance). However, I was quick to give it a negative review when all I needed to do was figure out the optimal scaling settings.

I would absolutely recommended screwing around with the scaling before possibly refunding if you are having issues. Took me a few days to figure out.

Im on a Dell G15 Laptop, 3060 and an I7 11800k. While I cant play on the max setting because the frames drop, I play on medium and achieve steady frames. I think I dip about twice in an hour or so worth of game play, usually when I zoom in really close. I have also crashed twice and because I didn't save at the beginning I lost both of those cities. Sometimes the roads don't match up and your sewer and water pipes will suffer but once you figure that little glitch out, it usually is smooth sailing.

However, that is the extent of my problems and now I generally save every 15ish minutes or if I make a milestone. That being said, I absolutely love this game, I am having a nice relaxing time just building a city that matches my vision. There is a learning curve for someone like me who hasn't really played the first game, but it was really fun figuring it all out. If you have a good PC and are on the fence, just get it. Drop the settings down a little bit and you will enjoy it, I promise.

Its like X-COM but in the Alien universe. The cutscenes themselves are pretty good but the voice acting and facial features of the characters are pretty bad. Doesn't take away from the game, it is a blast! The game has a similar feel of X-COM but it doesn't have that huge in-dept base building aspect. You have an infirmary, barracks, laboratory (research), and the command center. Basic healing, wait a day(s) depending on how bad they are injured and you can also upgrade and train your marines for specific classes.

The gameplay is SUPER fun, the atmosphere is incredible and it truly feels like every corner could be horrible for the marines. I personally don't mind the squad actions (you can't control just one marine, it is always everyone at once). The aliens are incredible to fight and it really does feel like you are outnumbered constantly. You do get your marines shouting in your ear every time you do an action but honestly, it doesn't really take away anything. Overall, if you like X-COM, you will probably like this game. If you like the Alien franchise, you will definitely like this game. It is super refreshing to have a tactical Aliens game after the major upsets recently with the franchise.

This is how you make a good game in 2023. I have played the tutorial and first trial with no bugs, all fun and terror in the form of outlast with an awesome way to play with friends. Early access and this is by far, one of the best horror games on steam right now. 10000/10.

I haven't heard of this game prior to release on steam (Meaning I did NOT play beta) and here are my thoughts.

Pros:
-Interface is very user friendly compared to games like Tarkov. You have a health and stamina bar, ammo count, armor count, map and compass at the topic of the screen. The inventory system is simple, yet effective. You can carry as much items as the weight of your backpack can carry. Transferring items from inventory to your backpack is quick with the right click option on your mouse (or you can manually move it). Items are listed by rarity and offer item descriptions. It i very easy to assign attachment to your weapon and what attachments are able to be used by your specific weapon. Basically, if you have an attachment in your backpack, it will automatically show up when trying to equip (If it fits your weapon). It is easy to pick up with their quick tutorial and get you in the action!
-Graphics are very pretty, it is not a hardcore style like Tarkov, but it is effective for the style of game they are shooting for. It can get a little sloppy around areas of water and waterfalls but this is a minor efficiency. I am running a 3060 so I play on max settings, but it isn't a very graphical demanding game.
-Gunfights are a pro in my opinion and I know I may get a lot of flack for this. When shooting at an enemy, you get a registered hitmarker (color dependent on their armor) and a red hitmarker for when the enemy dies. I am aware of the lack of registry when it comes to hitting shots and sometimes your weapon will not do the amount of damage that it should (this is a work in progress). It doesn't hurt the amount of fun I have had while shooting at enemy players and aliens. The aiming system and gun models are spectacular and I have no issues with the style of weaponry in the game.
-Quests are extremely easy to understand and get going on your missions. They add a quick tab to review your quests in match while also giving a description of where to commonly find the items in your quest. They also update your quest when you have completed an objective in game. For instance, if you have to kill 1 creature and you do, it updates for you to see in-game (works with picking up items and dropping off items at stash locations). The more quests completed, the more faction points and upgrade points you receive so you can upgrade your quarters or buy exclusive faction weapons/armor/consumables from those respective factions.
-Upgrades are good and give meaning to doing runs when you don't complete quest objectives. Upgrading your generators lets you acquire in-game premium and regular currency (so you do not have to "pay-to-win"). Everything in the game can be unlocked as long as you grind it.

Cons
-The sound is very confusing. While weapon sound design and world design is great and I love it, walking through bushes or on top of rocks makes the loudest sound in existence and I often find myself looking behind me because it sounds like another player (basically sound lag). While this doesn't hurt core gameplay, it does get frustrating when you die to someone else because you looked behind you thinking someone was there.
-No character upgradability is a let down. I would have liked to be able to increase stamina and other aspects of my character through upgrades. I understand that it gives a equality setting to the game but there is no rewards for winning fights and extracting other than gaining loot (which is fine). I would like to see some type of EXP reward for killing players/creatures throughout the runs.
-My overall biggest gripe is paying for content. While you can acquire all items through the game by playing, you can fork over 60-120$ to get premium loadouts, weapons, armor, backpacks and more which gives you an edge over free to play players. I understand this is how the company gets their money but premium players should be matched with other premium players to make the game fair. Or at least offer better rewards at the supply creates. While you can defeat enemies with common armor and weapons, it just gives an edge and that pay-to-win feature I talked about earlier. While you don't have to spend money, you can.

Overall I do recommend this game for people who like Tarkov style games and that loot/extract gameplay. It gives a refreshing new take on the genre with season 1 on the horizon. It may not be everyones cup of tea for a Tarkov game, it does give people who can't afford to play that game, a chance to play a similar style with a much easier learning curve. For its current state, I would give this game a solid 7/10.

Early Access Review
Its a Doom style Dino killing game with side missions for every mission. Can last over an hour per mission if you decide to do the side missions. Weapons have skill trees which you can upgrade your favorite style weapon and you unlock more weapons when you level up. Games awesome for its price and yes there is a few bugs like contracts not working or some dinos like lag depending on whos hosting, but overall for 25$ this game is tight. Fun, rapid killing dinos.

I love dinos

This game is loads of fun, especially with friends that play it. Yes it has bugs, sometimes you will die because of these bugs. Optimization isn't the greatest. But this is an early access title and I find it rather enjoyable. I would recommend this game to anyone who wants to actually give constructive feedback like an early access title should be. Just know it has bugs and you are contributing to help fix them. Don't buy this game, play for 0.5 hours and give a negative review on the game because it has bugs and optimization isn't fully there. Don't be that guy.

It says only 2 hours played, but I have played much more offline unfortunately; that being said..

I literally just saw this game on the Indie page and decided to pick it up. No prior knowledge about the game included in this review.

By far one of the best Indie 2D games I have ever played and im not a huge fan of Indie developed games. Dead Cells has hands down grabbed my attention for countless hours. The combat is simple yet satisfying, the game looks great and runs extremely smoothly. The first boss I faced killed me about 11 times before I could finally beat him, its a challenging game. The fact that there is no save points means you have to be careful, or just insanely mad crushing your enemies. The power-ups, items, and unlockables gives the player a sensation to continue the game to get better items and it also only slightly gives you an edge on the enemy. This game is by far one of my favorite games to date and I have had countless hours of fun. The price is amazing for this game and if you are wondering if the games for you, get it. Don't watch any youtube videos on it. Experience it for yourself, it's completely worth it.
