Comparing to Darkest Dungeon 1:

Pros:
+Refined Combat System with less frustrating RNG due to token system
+Beautiful aesthetics and music expected of Red Hook
+Fun Back stories for each of the Heroes

Cons:
-Less Heroes (half the roster size of DD1) with hero paths being mostly underwhelming sidegrades or downgrades and one is just going to pick the best path and done
-FAR less team compositions (It does not help not being to have dupes of a hero)
-ONLY ONE COPY of each hero. If you want different quirks and build, you have to reset the hero
-"Slay The Spire" path gameplay (the Stagecoach) is less rewarding than the Base Hamlet system from the first game
as it gets reset at the end of every chapter
-A bit non-immersive having the Academic having the same voice actor as The Ancestor as it almost sounds like the same character
-Trinkets feel less unique in terms of having similar stats
-All fights boils to a "damage race" (as opposed to the "stun race" in DD1)
-Less replay value (one or two playthroughs and you experienced most the game has to offer)
-No mod support as of the time of this review

Bottom line, get it on sale and face your failure.
