The game crashes at the white start-up splash screen, for a not insignificant portion of players. It seems the issue is with the anti-cheat software. Unacceptable state to launch any game in.

This really scratched that Paganitzu itch I've been having for the past 25 years. Short but sweet. Easily worth the price tag. I suspect the real meat of the game will be the workshop levels.

Doom Eternal is the ultimate skill based first person shooter. With the addition of Flame Belch (a shoulder mounted flamethrower), and recharging chainsaw ammo every enemy is a free loot sack, and you get to choose what they become. Low on health? Pop fodder demons with some bullets to stagger and glory kill into a shower of health pickups. Need armor? Flame on, brother! Every bit of damage to an on fire demon exudes shields. Ammo low? Zoom zoom zoom! Chainsaw, baby. With recharging fuel you're never out of ammo. Hey man, you got rechargable ice grenades, and frozen enemies drop health on death, too. And blood-punch can insta-kill a fodder enemy while sending a destructive blast to nearby demons. Freeze a small group, flame them, and bam pow right in the kisser ... you have max health and armor in the blink of an eye.

Couple this perfect system with the movement being quick as hell, being able to double jump, ledge grab, double dash, bounce-pad, and oh yeah ... ya ever Meat Hooked a Pain Elemental? You'll want to. Movement in Doom Eternal is the best in any FPS, MAYBE with the exception of Titanfall 2.

The music is 10/10 brilliance, of course. The enemy variety is plentiful, they're perfectly balanced, and the weak-point system encourages weapon swapping. The arenas are expertly crafted - a joy to explore and familiarize yourself with in order to command each little battlefield. The inclusion of optional challenges that lead to a powerful super weapon makes sure that the weapon FEELS earned, and is man does it feel good to melt a Tyrant in seconds. The between-mission hub is pure Doom joy, with lots of love and detail put into it. The lore goes deep, but only if you want it to. Hate lore and reading? Great! The plot is "Let's kill some vucking demons! Rip and tear till the job is done!"

I'd score this game an Eternal/10

This is a review for the Halo CE campaign only.
It is a joyless repetitive slog with no redeeming value. Is does not evolve combat in any way, and I would gladly play any previous FPS game rather then replay Halo 1. It improved on the FPS genre in no way whatsoever and now that I've finally played it I'm absolutely baffled -- what has made X Box fanboys defend this hot garbage for 19 years? What single thing does Halo 1 do better than the FPS games before it, such as Duke Nukem, Half-Life, Quake, Unreal, and Doom? I submit ... nothing.

If you're an old X Box fanboy, sure, it's a fine port that ran with no issues. But if you're a Halo virgin looking to play this game for the first time to see what the hype is about ... save your money and move along. There is nothing worth seeing here.

Really pretty colors and it's fun. I think you should play it. But really I'm just doing this for the badge.

I'm just here so I don't get fined.

Game is 9/10, btw. Don't hesitate, just buy it. It'll click. I promise.

I'm just editing this so I don't get fined ... again.

I love this game. There are a lot of Chicken Little's around crying about "hackers" and DSFix etc. etc. But at the end of the day this game is great, and now it looks better and runs better than ever before. I've been playing vanilla Dark Souls with DSFix at 4k recently, and it just does not hold a candle to the improvements this remaster brings. If you're on the fence absolutely jump in and get Dark Souls Remastered!
