As a new player who just started from the launch of the Free-to-Play model, I can honestly say I'm hooked. There game is FULL of different activities to do for all sorts of players, most of it being free. Because it can be a little overwhelming what you should do once you start, I would like to highlight what activities this game has to offer.

Open-World Exploring : There are 8 PVE planets you can travel to do all sorts of activities. They are unlocked one by one with the new free-to-play model, but are obtainable very quickly (This is to not overwhelm you from the very start). You could do some quests/story missions, bounties (side objectives that reward materials), Hunt down high valued targets for loot, search for hidden, Lost Sectors (mini dungeons), look for caches, and even join publics events in which all players on the map can join. There are players running around the same area and you can choose to play with them or alone. These planets are very fun to explore and you can earn planet exclusive materials to return to the different NPCs at each planet for rewards. All of these will give you gear and XP, allowing you to lvl up your Power Level.

Strikes : Strikes are similar to dungeons in other games. You go in as a team of 3 (or less) and go through the dungeon and see how the story unfolds. There are different levels of difficulty and each week there are new modifiers that change how you should approach the strikes (Such as taking heavy damage while in the air). With a higher power level you can increase the difficulty and have better chances for Exotic rewards. The gameplay is fast paced, and the bosses can be quite fun and challenging.

The Crucible : This is the PVP in the game and my favourite mode to play. There are a variety of modes to choose from, the most popular being Control (6v6 Domination). There are some modes that are always available (FFA, Control, 3v3 elimination) and there are some modes that change with every week which keeps the PVP feeling fresh. All the gear you get from the game can be used in The Crucible and the power level of your gear is balanced with higher or lower level players (Except for an event called the Iron Banner). You will be rewarded every game with Tokens to bring to the PVP NPC as well as new guns. If you really wanted, you could play this game EXCLUSIVELY pvp. Jump in with some friends and kick some ass.

Raids : I do not have any experience with Raids... but they are similar to Strikes in which you bring a group 6 players and fight challenging enemies, obtaining high level gear. You need to find the group yourself I believe as there is no Match-making for this mode. I wish I could say more but I have yet to try this. Hoping to do some raids in the near future.

Gambit : Gambit is a mix of PVP and PVE. You have two teams of 4 go up against each other in a race to kill the boss, the Prime Evil. You must run around and collect motes (up to a max of 15) to place into your teams bank. You need 100 motes to summon the Prime Evil. Depending how many motes you are depositing, you can also send an enemy to block the other times bank, forcing them to kill it first before being able to deposit. As the game progresses, You will be able to go through a teleporter that takes you to the enemies side (an identical map of the one your team is playing). You can kill the other team to make them lose the motes they are holding, and even heal their Prime Evil to slow down their progress. It's a very creative mode and once you understand it, it can be a lot of fun messing with the other team and racing against the clock.

Campaigns : You can also choose to play through the games 5 campaigns which are very story heavy. You can get them from Holliday in the shipyard (furthest east) on The Tower, the game's hub. As a free player, you are able to play through the games first 3 campaigns! Pretty awesome if you ask me. Each DLC comes with it's own story and campaign to play through. You can earn rewards playing this mode as well as exp.

What's fantastic about this game is there really isn't just one way to play. You are free to play the modes that YOU WANT to play. They all reward you with gear and EXP and even some of the most powerful weapons and armour in the game if your lucky, Exotics. I personally think they are all worth doing and a lot of fun. You will never run out of things to do, and each week you will receive weekly quests for each activity, which can reward you with high level gear (After you hit power level 900, which only took me a few days to do).

So do yourself a favour, dive into this awesome FREE game and try out each of the different modes, find which modes you like to do and have fun!
